What do you think about Fluffs pickups in this vid? The bridge is the EMG 57.

I like them, they sound pretty well rounded.

How do you think they'd hold up with a basswood body/maple neck/rosewood fretboard?

I've been looking for a new set to toss in my Michael Kelly Patriot

I think they'd hold up pretty well!! In fact, I just ordered a bridge unit for my 8 String RC8x!!! smile.gif
It's the most organic, dynmic, EMG they've ever made and it still have the active punch. So if you've got a guitar that's already active it's a no brainer smile.gif

I have EMG 808 pups in my RC8x now and I HATE THEM MORE THAN ANYTHING
*Too compressed
*Too brittle
*Too fizzy
*Too boomy
*Too mushy
*Too much bleh/crap/egad!!

UPDATE!:

SO GET THIS.

These .10 gauge "heavy core" strings work GREAT on my rusty cooley 8 string which is a 26.5 in scale guitar. HOWEVER, they are TERRIBLE on my STRICTLY 7, 8 string guitar which is a 27.5 scale length. The string tension is so great they actually feel like they are bending the neck forward and stressing the truss rod.

To wit!!! I just got a pair of of the original "Yngwie Malmsteen" custom set strings done in .08 and I"m going to put them on my STRICTLY 7 COBRA 8 string on the first 6 strings and use the LABELLA CRAZY 8 pack of .09 gauge for the lowest 2 strings. This should reduce the insane amount of string tension.

To the bench!!!
