Well I use different gauges, depends of what I play. For lead stuff on electric guitar I use kind a thick picks, 2mm and such. For more rhythm stuff I go for less thick tho, 1-1.5mm. This is all in use when I record in studios ofc, you cannot change pick that easily on gig for rhythm and solo parts! As for anchoring, I anchor heel of my palm on the top of the bridge.
