Band that I've heard before, but I must admit didn't catch my attention before today. Very cool taiwanese black metal band called CHTHONIC, mixing traditional instruments into their black metal. I thought some people on here would be interested, so..

Wow, they are awesome, thanks a lot for sharing! I love asian or arabian bands that manage to put some traditional styles in their music. Melechesh and Orphaned Land are great examples for the arabian world. But I know you're the specialist when it comes to Asia, so I'm looking forward to find out about more cool asian bands (that will make up for the annoying stuff you sometimes post...nyan nyan nyan nyannyannyan nyan laugh.gif )

There name is Greek for "Beneath" and is associated with ancient deities of the Underworld. Hard to pronounce but cool smile.gif Killer music too! And yeah the vids are very cool. I"m actually amazed the vid quality is as good as it is given the budget must be amazingly low.

The second vid is dark fare indeed for Taiwanese given the dark times of WWII that still stain Taiwan/China in general.

The vocalist is quite impressive and musicality is spiff as well. It doesn't hurt that the bass player is also a stellar looking model named Doris Yeh

It's also great that they whip out an Erhu (traditional Chinese/Tai Violin) and prayer drums in the middle of a Black Metal show/song. It really adds a new layer and makes them stand out.

Yep smile.gif

But they are a very known band, really really famous in Asia. Why would you expect their budget to be so low? huh.gif

Well, the Video Budget is usually based on Previous or Future Album/Cd/Download sales and I can't imagine they are moving lots of units as they are pretty hard core. Then again, maybe they are selling songs/downloads/streams like crazy in Asia. Here in the States, bands that sound like this usually have "Day Jobs" and get their friends to do their vids for free. Cannibal Corpse comes to mind. Last I heard, every single member had a day job and took vacation to play European Festivals over the summer. The same thing is true for my pals in Gnostic/Atheist.

From what I have heard, Metal is a big deal in Asia, especially the more extreme forms, so we can assume they make a bunch of money with this band.
