Well.. for me its definitely Michael Romeo and Devin Townsend.

Romeo for technicallity and art (I, personally, would put him right next to all those Mozarts and Bachs..smile.gif ),

Devin for
1) the funny stuff, he can do (Check this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMLXoobDKWs ),

2) the technicall stuff, he can do ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rMzit6DZrg...feature=related ) - those chorus sweeps are just brutal..

3) the deep and meaningfull stuff, he can do ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeG-6bpeUkA...feature=related )

4) For the amazing EMOTIONS he can put into song.. this is the strongest piece of music I ever heard in terms of the emotionness.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrxmrS9FIzc

Now that is a young brave man biggrin.gif

I agree:D

Favourite songwriters could be classed so many ways technical, non technical, band, solo.

As solo Steve Vai is quite incredible he really blends some wack stuff together and makes it flow smoothly.
On the other hand Nickelback (not to technical at all) are brilliant songwriters to....if their album sales are anything to go by:)
John Mayer, Killswitch Engage. There's to much variety of talent across styles out there to mention.

Mine is Luca Turilli

He writes music in 3 different bands and they are all very good

The man is genius

I agree! Luca is a god!
Also, I love Nicholas Barron.

Yeah I agree with Ian. I like KSE. John Mayer has some talent aswell.

Guitarist wise I also enjoy Andy Timmons for melodic playing and fast effective riffs.
