I mentioned to you guys before that I am a Police Officer. Today I was on patrol and I heard a call go out to any cars in the area for a suicidal subject on the superstructure of a VERY high bridge over water. People jump off this bridge to commit suicide fairly frequently as it is the highest drop in the area. It is about 150 feet over the water. I went out onto the bridge and saw a guy who had climbed about 20 feet above the surface of the bridge and was hanging onto the bridge support right next to the outside railing of the bridge. He was crying and was just staring straight ahead...not really looking at anything. I walked to the bottom of the structure he was hanging onto and talked to him for about 5 minutes. He finally looked down at me and I was able to convince him to tell me his name. I kept talking to him for about another 10 minutes and finally got him to agree to come down. As soon as he came down he just grabbed me and cried on my shoulder about how his wife left him. We calmed him down and took him to the hospital. When we looked in his car that was parked at the end of the bridge he had written a suicide note and put it on the dashboard.
It definitely was a highlight of my career so far!
Wow! What an experience must been that.
Awesome story Ben, you guys do a hell of a job, hats off to you man!
You saved the guys' life. That makes you a hero. There's nothing more to be said. Great job, man.

Great job man! That's just amazing
I'm sure your parents are very proud of you as we are all feeling the same here at GMC.

Great story man, you must be very very proud of yourself for saving someone!
Good job Dr.phil! :X Really, that's nice. What place was it actually?
What a feeling that must have been. Great work!
Wow, that is great
I can't imagine what it must feel like, but it must be great!
You're doing a great job Praetorian, *hat off*
Wow, great job! You saved a life
So you're feeling better after the needle-incident now then?
Wow man thats really cool......
All respect. That must have been a very stressfuk situation for you all. Thank you for being such a good police officer.
What about your recent AIDS curation?
hey Praetorian, developing in guitar with such a high speed (hail mtp!!) and then saving some lives in the meantime? How true is that
Thank you, it's a great and remarkable story... good "stuff" to make your day good right at the beginning
cheers
Thanks for sharing that - not many of us can claim to have woken up this morning and saved someones life, you guys are awesome!
Some guy committed suicide in my hometime not long back and people were shouting to him just jump and booing when he didn't. It was so very wrong and eventually he just jumped. At least there are some decent people in the world that try to save people rather than making them jump. Most days I want to jump off a high structure but unfortunately I'm too much of a wimp to do anything so I will just stay the same miserable idiot I have always been
That's a very very noble thing of you to do man, you saved a life, and this is what I admire with your profession. Hats on mate
Great job man.
This is really something to to be proud of.
Man,convincing someone who is in deep emotional shock not to make suicide
must be one of the hardest things on the planet,God bless you.
Who says cops only eat donats ?
Congratulations this story was very emotional and it touched me deep. You should feel very proud of your achievement !
That's great! I think it must be hard to keep talking in to him in a way that he agrees to move! Have you had training in "talking"??
It's an honor that a great person like you is part of our community!!
Wow man, that's great. I have a similar story but it involves a purposeful overdose on medication. It's a good feeling to help someone in such a hard situation. Unfortunately I've been on the other side of it also seeing how I have bad depression and anxiety. But congrats man.
