Hi everyone

I have long fingers and big hands, and that works good for the 1st through 12th fret.
Once i get to the 15th fret or higher my hand often cramps because i'm trying to play
the same way i would on the other frets.maybe this is a lame question.
I'm wondering what the correct fingering would be on frets 15-22 or does comfort come
into play here also.............

Do you mean your fingers crowd each other on the upper frets when playing "three note per string" scale patterns?

Me too!

What I do is I play a group that is like this: --18-20-22-- normally, but since I have trouble with: --19-20-22-- or --19-21-22--. I play these patterns using two fingers that are non adjacent (1 and 3, or 2 and 4), and slide the half step interval like this; --19/20-22-- or --19-21/22--.

This will seem difficult at first and you must really know your scale patterns very well, but its the only solution I have found for "finger-sausage-itis" and the upper fretboard!

I will usually not use the little finger quite as much when going high up - because of the problem you mention. Only when dealing with larger intervalls.

Yeah same, past about 15-16 I start using my ring and index fingers to play thirds.

Hm - i use all of my fingers across the whole fretborad and never had problem with "crowding". Maybe because i have thin fingers.

Thanks Kris.....I'll watch the lessons and give more attention to that area of the fretboard.
