Hi Darius, Ben, Gab and all GMCer
I'm on hollydays. This morning I made a take with a guitar of my son
I like Bossa Nova - I am not used to playing with this guitar, my left hand is a little tightened
Hi my friend. That's quite a tough lesson I imagine, especially those unfamiliar chord shapes.
Timing is mostly in the right area although some minor discrepancies occur, mainly because of the upstrokes. If you're not used to playing like this then it will be hard to control the timing of your fingers exactly.
Chord changes - these are mostly good but they become a bit more awkward as you progress through the lesson. Hand fatigue may play a part in that too.
Tone - Have you tried having your picking hand closer to the sound hole, further forward? It might give a bit more warmth as I feel it sounds too "steel" at the moment. Too bright.
Mixing - I would have mixed the guitar a bit louder as the percussion is dominating. The tone being produced from your hands is not very loud either so it would help compensate for this.
Overall, very good. Just unfamiliar to you, so those issues I pointed out you probably already recognise and expect yourself anyway. I'm sure I would have the same issues if I tried the lesson.
Hi mate!
I've found this one first at the mentoring thread so you already know my thoughts about your take. I could only add that sometimes dynamics are a bit irregular so you could also put some focus on your right hand intensities during the next days of practice.
Keep on the good job!
Hey there!
I see no huge mistakes here but I would like to support Ben's observations on upstrokes timing and even more...your right hand placement. It really should be closer to the sound hole for warmer, more "bossa-like" tone. Aside from this I have no serious complaints. Well done
