I'v desided to make a cool Indie Rock (Alternative Rock) band list.
I'v added a random Youtube or Myspace link by the band name, so you can go and knock yourself out with some real music: Rock Art from people in the streets around.
Add more Indie bands to this list, if you know any, by reply or PM, I will add suggestions to this the first post - thanks cool.gif

happy.gif Indie rock is a genre of alternative rock that primarily exists in the independent underground music scene. The term is sometimes used interchangeably with underground music as a whole, though more specifically implicates that the music meets the criterion of being rock, as opposed to indie pop or other possible match-ups. These criteria vary from an emphasis on rock instrumentation (electric guitars, bass guitar, live drums, and vocals) to more abstract (and debatable) rockist constructions of authenticity.
Indie rock is shorthand for independent rock, this is the Rock made by "the man in the street" for many of its artists are or were unsigned or signed to independent record labels, rather than major record labels. It is not strictly a genre of music (although the term is often used to reference the sound of specific bands and the bands they have influenced), but is often used as an umbrella term covering a wide range of artists and styles, connected by some degree of allegiance to the values of underground culture, counterculture, and (usually) describable as rock music. Genres or subgenres often associated with indie rock include lo-fi, post-rock, sadcore, C86, and math rock, to list but a few; other related (and sometimes overlapping) categories include: Alternative dance, Alternative metal, Baggy, Britpop, Christian alternative rock, College rock, Dream pop, Dunedin Sound, Geek rock, Gothabilly, Gothic rock, Grebo, Grunge, Indie pop, Industrial rock, Jangle pop, Madchester, Noise pop, Noise rock, Paisley Underground, Post-grunge, Post-punk revival, Psychobilly, Riot Grrrl, Shoegazing, Space rock and Twee pop.
Indie rock artists place a premium on maintaining complete control of their music and careers, releasing albums on independent record labels (sometimes their own) and relying on touring, word-of-mouth, and airplay on independent or college radio stations for promotion. Some end up moving to major labels, often on favorable terms won by their prior independent success.

smile.gif Post-rock is a music genre characterized by the use of musical instruments commonly associated with rock music, but utilizing rhythms, harmonies, melodies, timbre, and chord progressions that are not found in rock tradition. Simply put, it is the use of 'rock instrumentation' for non-rock purposes. Practitioners of the genre's style typically produce instrumental music.
As with many musical genres, the term is arguably inadequate as a concise descriptor: for example, Don Caballero and Mogwai were among the more prominent bands of the 1990s described as post rock, but the two bands' music has very little in common besides the fact that they are both largely instrumental. As such, the term has been the subject of backlash from listeners and artists alike.
Although firmly rooted in the indie scene of the 1980s and '90s, post-rock's style bears little resemblance musically to that of indie rock. Last quote: wikipedia

Edit: added more bands to the list cool.gif + removed a line with my innocent humor sleep.gif
Added some information too...

I like alot of those bands you have listed but

"endles and music-less Petrucci-kind-of scala shredding"

kinda stung. Of course theres some shred thats emotionless
my opinion i guess being stuff like Michael Angelo Batio and perhaps Yngwie Malmsteen a little

But theres alot of shredders that put huge amounts of art and emotion into their work. Like Steve Vai and Joe Satriani.

and digging on petrucci is just wrong
even if you do have every Dream theater album

now that i got that out of my system

you included post rock, and yet theres no sign of Explosions in the Sky. And if your really into post rock, listen to the Coma Lilies. I found them completely by accident, and never seen anyone else who knows about them, but they're really good.
