Proper Recording Levels (and Amp Sim. Usage)

Many studio engineers prefers this approach (regardless of DAW). I was never into electric or math theory of sound engineering but made listening tests and preferred the way the video describes. For amp sims. you can do this too;

To compensate for the lowered (soundcard preamp) input gain just increase the input of the amp sim. You don't have to be super strict about determining average levels as the guitar, depending on what you play can have dynamic differences. But give it a shot by comparing something you can record 2 times to see if a difference can be felt.
