Hello, so I've kind of broken my floyd rose, well the part where you put in the whammy arm thing is what is broken, and something of that hole broke off, oh well, but I have floyd rose original, and I've been thinking about getting the pro version.

So I'd like to know if anyone, can tell me what the difference between the orignal and the original pro version, that would just be aces! Since I've learned a major lesson, I need to figure out what all of these different systems do, what the pros and cons are and such, before I buy them, I've learned that the hard and expensive way now, and that has to stop tongue.gif, also is it difficult to setup a floyd rose all the way from the bottom (just when you get it out the package) ? tongue.gif

But damn, I need to pull my self together, I recently bought a new guitar with fret buzz, I should just have sent that one back immediately when I realized a problem, now I have to get my hands on some kind of fret file, but atleast I haven't dropped a guitar and have had it break into two pieces wink.gif, but lesson learned! (hopefully laugh.gif)

Cheers!

first, don't file nothin unless you are a luthier
I don't know about the pro , but the 3 I know about are the licensed , the special , and original
the licensed is made under guidelines with lesser quality metal
the special is made exactly the same with lesser quality
and the original is supposed to be made with the high quality metal
I have always had a licensed and I have never had abreakage or tuning problems
just out of curiosity, how or what happened

Sounds like the reciever end for the tremolo arm is what broke to me and you should be able to find that part fairly easily if that is the problem. I am waiting on the same part for my ZR trem on my Ibanez at the moment sad.gif . I cant tell you about the floyds other than what jstcarson posted above, I do have an original floyd and absolutely love it.
Also I would have to agree with jstcrsn about the fret buzz issue.dont start filing away unless you know what you are doing. Have you had this guitar setup at you local shop? You might want to have someone look at it since they may most likely be able to make some adjustments.
Also I found this youtube video usefull in setting up my floyd, heck that guy in the video may even have the part or parts you need.

Hope it helps and good luck!
Rich....

EDIT PS. I just noticed that link that jaxN4 posted, I think thats the same guy as in the youtube video I posted laugh.gif My bad jax!

I honestly think that the fret buzz is because of your string height rather than the actual frets themselves. ensure that the bridge of your Tremolo is parallel with the body and then work on it from there. Too bad you aren't in the US. Our quarters are actually the perfect measuring tool for string height. It creeps me out sometimes.

The main difference between the different Floyd models is that the Original is still exactly the same as the original 1977 design.
The Floyd Rose Pro is a low-profile version of Floyd Rose Original. The bridge and arm design is changed in such a way that your hand will be generally closer to the strings while holding the tremolo arm. The most important difference when thinking of changing is this:-
The Pro bridge has a narrower string spacing (0.400 inches or 10.16 mm in this design versus 0.420 inches or 10.66 mm of the Floyd Rose Original).

Also, the fine tuners are slightly angled for more comfortable play.

As for fret buzz........
First off, check your string heights, adjustable by raising or lowering either side of the bridge by tightening or releasing the fulcrum Posts.

Secondly, I would strongly advise against filing/stoning your frets unless you are 100% confident in what you are doing! If at all unsure take it to a Luthier/Guitar Tech and have them assess it! A mistake by untrained fiiinig could result in having to pay for a complete re-fret. Also, get them to check the 'Neck Relief' as this could be the cause of the buzz.

Lastly, setting up a Floyd from scratch is fairly straight forward, although it can be very time consuming as you need to set all the tensions, check intonation, re-adjust etc until you have it set.

Hope this helps!!
