Sounds like the reciever end for the tremolo arm is what broke to me and you should be able to find that part fairly easily if that is the problem. I am waiting on the same part for my ZR trem on my Ibanez at the moment . I cant tell you about the floyds other than what jstcarson posted above, I do have an original floyd and absolutely love it.
Also I would have to agree with jstcrsn about the fret buzz issue.dont start filing away unless you know what you are doing. Have you had this guitar setup at you local shop? You might want to have someone look at it since they may most likely be able to make some adjustments. Also I found this youtube video usefull in setting up my floyd, heck that guy in the video may even have the part or parts you need. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEyg_sEACdE Hope it helps and good luck! Rich.... EDIT PS. I just noticed that link that jaxN4 posted, I think thats the same guy as in the youtube video I posted My bad jax! This post has been edited by AK Rich: Oct 6 2011, 03:33 AM |

The main difference between the different Floyd models is that the Original is still exactly the same as the original 1977 design. The Floyd Rose Pro is a low-profile version of Floyd Rose Original. The bridge and arm design is changed in such a way that your hand will be generally closer to the strings while holding the tremolo arm. The most important difference when thinking of changing is this:- The Pro bridge has a narrower string spacing (0.400 inches or 10.16 mm in this design versus 0.420 inches or 10.66 mm of the Floyd Rose Original). Also, the fine tuners are slightly angled for more comfortable play. As for fret buzz........ First off, check your string heights, adjustable by raising or lowering either side of the bridge by tightening or releasing the fulcrum Posts. Secondly, I would strongly advise against filing/stoning your frets unless you are 100% confident in what you are doing! If at all unsure take it to a Luthier/Guitar Tech and have them assess it! A mistake by untrained fiiinig could result in having to pay for a complete re-fret. Also, get them to check the 'Neck Relief' as this could be the cause of the buzz. Lastly, setting up a Floyd from scratch is fairly straight forward, although it can be very time consuming as you need to set all the tensions, check intonation, re-adjust etc until you have it set. Hope this helps!! Great info man! I didn't know all these things.. thanks! -------------------- My lessons
