Shure SM57 is industry standard, but if you don't have enough for that, Shure PG57 can do the job as well.
Toneport GX doesn't have mic preamp, but UX1, UX2 have mic preamps. Just plug the mic into XLR input on the Toneport, and set modeling in POD Farm. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

If you buy a Shure SM57 and it sounds awful you know it's not the mic.

Just a question tho.. Do you plan to mic a cab/amp, and if so - what is it that you plan to record with the mic?

If you get Shure Sm57, you can use it to record vocals too. It has a great frequency response to record vocals.
