K, So im rather new to guitar. I can do some stuff, but the more complex stuff escapes me. I was curious what makes the main riff sound like it does.

Couldn't find a non-live version that was the song, so I found one with an animation. Didn't wanna post the song cuz of legal troubles.

Also the tab for the opening lick is this.

The second guitar doesn't seem the most predominant, but it could be the sound I'm looking for. Hard to explain, for me at least. But when I play it, guitar 1, it sounds awful. Any insights at all? Or is this the wrong forum or just plain not wanted here.

The trick is to plam mute all the notes on the A String, and to do up / down / up / down style strumming on the chords, this will give you the sound youre looking for.

If you need a more in depth explanation, just let me know. biggrin.gif

Hope this helped

Helps a lot. But I still stuck. I want to try and learn songs while learning everything else. Gives me some focus on to what I'm learning rather than "mindless excercises." Thanks again.

hmm.. well I got a GP tab of it (you can find it on ultimateguitar) and the tabs are a bit diffrent from what you posted, bassicly the song is in drop C tunning in my tab(D A F C G C) you'r tab is a whole step higher then mine so i'm guessing you need to tune you'r guitar to (E B G D A D) which is actually a common drop D tuning where you just tune the low E string down a step. hope this helpd ya out.
