You guys might remember about a year ago in Turkey when people revolted un-armed. Since (actually before) then nothing changed much, we keep revolting and face police brutality time to time smile.gif

So long story short; Current ruling political party was formed by a religious cult years ago. Again about a year ago the the party and the cult started to have disagreements and now they are in a political war.

The cult is sharing top secret phone conversations almost everyday, these are intended to prove that the ruling party members (including current prime minister) has made frauds, or others that somehow hurts their charisma (like a minister mocking religion) its guessed that in total they stole 1 billion dolars since they were elected...

Since these phone conversations are shared online, about 2 hours ago they (the goverment) blocked twitter! no surprise to us as they did that to soundcloud (about a month ago) and youtube in the past.

We just change dns code on computer its easy to pass this block but even though I don't use twitter I feel so ashamed that these ridiculous things are happening in my country
sad.gif

An election is near (2 weeks from now) but that election is regional, there is still a year more to (hopefully) democratically change the ruling party...

I know this all sick...sad.gif As far as I remember even such a basic programs like Skype are blocked in some countries :/ Spain for example...(confirm or deny..not 100% sure). In China the "Avatar" movie was blocked. As for Poland if You could see what happened on the streets and in the web when they tried to force "SOPA"...

There are moments when people really can get together and fight for something they believe is freedom...

it often seems that governments don't really understand social media and in particular that their attempts to limit people's access often has the reverse affect.

There's a lot wrong with politcs in Spain at the moment and a lot of individual are involved in fraud. The government here though hasn't as yet resorted to trying to ban social meida as far as I know. It seems content to repeal laws on social justice and equality. That's my way of saying that I sympathise with you on what is going on in Turkey and worry that we may not be that far behind.

To be honest such issue's are more sensitive here as Turkey is the only islamic country that has democracy in its foundation. While some believe it must find the standards of Europe, others want an islamic system.

We take them more seriously as most of you probably know the story of iran, many feel there's always a risk it might happen here too so this has become a reflex for us whenever such or similar sh.t happens...

We have a some very vocal minorities here that are very well funded via big oil which is oddly the same situation in many oil rich eastern countries and that money flows outward from those countries to support those who tow the line. Sadly so much of politics boils down directly to money like many things do. I hope Turkey finds faith in itself and it's future and holds to democracy and tolerance above all else smile.gif
