It has been used in the past. The 60's band Beach Boys used it in "Good Vibrations". Jimmy Page used one some with Zep. More recently it was brought to attention because it was used in the theme song to "Midsomer Murders", a long running British detective series, one of my personal favorite all time TV shows.
