Hello guys! In my last video chat we have been talking about technique and I found many of you interested in Sweep Picking.
My question is:
Do you like this technique?
Do you use it?
Are you working on it?
Do you need some help to master it?

I can do a little sweep picking, but I don't use it too much. It is really fun once you get the hang of it and sounds sweet.
I'm sure I'll work with it more on future GMC lessons, but I don't use it in my daily jamming.

Are you working on it? Not practicing it, just jamming with it. Would like to learn some new shapes, and connect further spaced shapes.
Do you need some help to master it? Difficult to say. I can sweep the shapes I know well, but they're just standard minor arpeggios. Perhaps if I was to try something with tougher fingering.

It seems that your next step would be to add major and diminished arpeggios to your sweeps. Do you play the technique using 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 strings?

I use 3, 4, 5 and 6 string sweeps, not so much 2 string sweeps. Yeah, def have to add those major and dim arps!

I am working on it sometimes and its one of my favorite sounding techniques.
I am pretty god playing 2 string shapes but i stil have a long way to go untill i reach loomis class

Check out the song "Preludio Obsesivo" by Rata Blanca. I used that song as a 2 strings sweep etude for years!

Yes, I still practise the dim arpeggios u showed me earlier 
They are just great!
But sweep picking and just sweep? Is sweep picking when u just sweep one note at a time and sweep is then when the pick goes in one move down and up? I guess so but there are so many names for sweep
If u could just name the different sweeps and add a explanation to each one, I would be most grateful

The Sweep Picking is way to cross strings which is different from the famous Alternate Picking technique. The main concept is that when you are using Sweep Picking is to play down-strokes when you are ascending strings and up-strokes when you are descending. This technique can be used crossing 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 strings. It is usually combined with other techniques like legato, tapping and alternate picking (when you play more than 1 note in a string). The word Sweep is used when you are referring to the motion of the Sweep Picking.

Do you use it? i use but not like for example, jason becker and all those shredders , i use it more like a 3/4 strings sweep to make a kind of a bridge to the next lick, cant explain : c

Do you need some help to master it? to be honest, it isn't a tech that i want to master at less not now. i can't see a usefulness of it right now for me.

Nice topic! I like sweeps, although I started working on them just recently. Hope it will turn out good, who knows
Sweeps are great for developing new motions and new lines, and also important technique to master along side with arpeggios (one of the reasons I started covering them in detail).

Thanks for your answers! So.. to sum up.. you are happy with your current level!

Great Ivan! Sweeps are very useful to play arpeggios! I'm sure that you'll use the technique in a very fresh way.

I like sweeping, but can't really do it very well. I'm still practicing on it, but not regularly.

Do you like this technique? Well, I don't like to play it right now, since I suck at it, but I do like the sound of sweeping.
Do you use it? Not in my playing, mainly because I am not playing/practicing songs with sweep picking.
Are you working on it? Yep, 20 minutes a day
Do you need some help to master it? Got the help I need atm

I only use this technique when I perform with the orchestra at the Mozart Rocks! concerts. I like it, but since I don;t have any often context to really use it, I don't practice it that much.
Just yesterday I started remembering the shapes I am using for the video I posted earlier this week hope I won't fail at it

hope I won't fail at it yeah, I understand what I mean. I've never found a song of my band where it sounds good.
I found this modern sound band and they uses sweep picking very often in the way they do at 1:30

Great question! I'd say I could really use some help on sweeps. I don't do it that much either so it's not my strongest/fastest technique. The more practice the better

The more u seem to learn the more u understand how little u know. The guitar is a incredible instrument! Study it in a lifetime and u still learn things! But there is something for everyone. Like sweeps
