> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: 90's Metal Chops by Darius Wave

that run is insane, thank you Darius for that challenge. I'm still working on cleaning it up but here is my first take. I miced up my Mesa boogie studio 22+ for this take and I love the tone if I say so myself :D

Hell Yeah! smile.gif Nice to see Your take over 90's metal Patrick. I think You already know all the things that need some improvement but...let me check if those are same as mine observations smile.gif))

Tone is very nice for that kind of playing. I hear Your tried to get close to the lesson guitar tone smile.gif

What I can suggest is to take oa bit of gain off because all the muted 8th and 16th notes are not clear enough.

When the 3rd part of the lesson start there are pinch harmonics on the G A Bb notes and then the Bb note is repeated with "no harmonics", open tone. You seem to do it "all open notes"

0:45 - Try to glue those notes as smooth as possible with no breaks and no separation then make a smooth position change 1 fret down

Try to work on the timming of muted runs

As for the speed run we talked about before - It needs a good balance between tension and rest. Also the picking direction is veeery important. I cannot play it myself if I mess somethignwith the picking. Use every milisecond of legato to relax Your hand smile.gif Try to make Your movements smaller and add some help from the right hands fingers smile.gif This should help smile.gif

Once again Thank You for this great take smile.gif

Unfortunately it's very close to, but still a bit to be done to pass...But I remember the metalcore takes so I know it's possible for Ya! smile.gif

Hey Pat! I think that Darius pointed out all the important things, so I will only say - slow things down, implement the observation the D-man stated and get them clean and up to speed. That's pretty much all there is to it wink.gif

Hi mate! Nice take! As Darius said it needs more work but you already know the different sections. He pointed exactly which things you must practice to master this one. As Cosmin said, isolate the faster/trickier sections and work on them slower using metronome. Be patient and try to adjust the parts to be 100% tight.

Keep on the good job. wink.gif
