Hey community. I want to share my newest demo featuring my singing. It's just a demo recorded on my laptop's internal mic (pretty sweet quality for an internal mic IMHO). I have another version on my soundcloud, but some people didn't like the screaming, so I made this version. I think this new version is better anyway.
I hope you like the song. The lyrics are very personal. If you have any questions about my gear, just ask below.
https://soundcloud.com/fireball100/lord-i-have-sinned-no-screams
I bow my head, I'm in despair
Transgressed again like I didn't care
My hardened heart becomes undone
I hid my eyes, ignoring you
Suppressed your word like it wasn't true
Convicted now, I fall apart
I'VE SINNED
OH PLEASE FORGIVE
RESTORE THE LIFE IN ME
THAT I SHOULD LIVE
LORD I HAVE SINNED
DON'T LET ME GO
JUST PURGE THESE LIES IN ME
THAT I HAVE SOWN
This heart of fire has turned to stone
Dried up inside straight to the bone
My conscience speaks, but will I learn?
To count the moments of my sin
And given the chance to live again
Would they be months, or maybe years?
I'VE SINNED
OH PLEASE FORGIVE
RESTORE THE LIFE IN ME
THAT I SHOULD LIVE
LORD I HAVE SINNED
DON'T LET ME GO
JUST PURGE THESE LIES IN ME
THAT I HAVE SOWN
Brandon
That's awesome man!
Waiting for more
Love the riffage parts at the end!
Hey Bran! Great lines and interpretation man - what I would work on a bit more would be the sustaining of the notes - your voice is a bit shaky in some points. That occurs because of the breathing How are you faring with your breathing while singing?
Well done! Cosmin has a good tip on your voice sustain. It's something that will come with practice. Breathing is very important in singing. Just takes time to work out the bits. Have you thought about processing like an octaver, or harmonizer just to make the chorus bits stand out a bit more?
I would try calming the mind before recording as a first step
Try breathing deep and slow but not into your chest but into your diaphragm. Apply the same technique when singing and in order to sustain the notes, try using the back muscles and your whole body.
Imagine you have 2 oranges, 1 underneath each armpit. The more push you want for sustaining a note, the more you have to squeeze the oranges. Make up a scale of tension 1-10 and think of what tension you need for various situations. It will work, trust me?
Oh man!
Why havent I heard this one before??
Its a very good song with great lyrics! It really touched my feelings, I must say
Emotional and a bit of pain in it.
If it was my song I would have gone to a recording studio and get it all record there and mixed into perfection
Trust me, its a good song that would easaly stand against any of the songs on radio/market today.
Btw: Great voice to
Thanks Cosmin. I will have to try that.
Hey Nava, thank you so much! I will eventually have it professionally recorded. It's just a demo for now. My cousin has the mic at his house. Glad to know the song has potential.
Bran - if you could shoot a movie while recording, in which I could see your upper body I could tell you more. Please try the oranges technique, deal?
By all means - it would help me tremendously in realizing how to further help out
Nice.
For me lyrically I'd want to see an element of hope at the end, a remembrance of what has been promised to us.
Feel free to ignore the rest of the post, as this is your song and conveying what you want to say and how you want to say it
Think of Peter denying Jesus and later in Mark 16 Jesus saying Go tell my disciples and Peter. Jesus wasn't saying Peter wasn't his disciple any more but making sure Peter understood he was wanted and forgiven and was given a 2nd chance etc He called him by name.
Sort of in the way Close your eyes approach the same sort of thing in Valleys
I am starting to realize
that I can do nothing on my own
Everything that I start to build crumbles into nothing!
It's safe to say that no matter what
I try I fall so short
This unrelenting pride
continues to widen the space between you and I
Is there any point in trying to change?
No matter what I do it always stays the same.
But I feel like this has been made for me
Is there something more that I can't see?
All I want is to let go
I try so hard this pride still grows
Just for once to breathe in deep
And catch a glimpse of what you see in me
So many years of sorrow and grief
The bitterness I tasted in the face of defeat
How can I forget the joy of the mountain tops
down in the valleys?
Is there any point in trying to change?
No matter what I do it always stays the same.
But I feel like this has been made for me
Is there something more that I can't see?
But your ways are different they call out to me
no matter what I do you always stay the same
And I will have the choice to say
there is more to this life that I'm living
There is more
There is more
And in the amidst of struggles of finding the man
you called me to be
Your love reminds me
that though I am broken I am still standing
I'm still screaming!
Is there any point in trying to change?
No matter what I do it always stays the same.
And I will have the choice to say
there is more to this life I am living
there is more to this life I am living
there is more to this life I am living
I understand. It's good feedback. I would of course have this song in the middle of the worship album of praising God - so it won't be all doom and gloom. But I understand the song by itself could present some unhappiness.
Hey mate! Awesome stuff! The song sounds really cool and your voice has an interesting potential! I Following Cosmin's tips and with some more practice it will fit great with your music. Congrats!
Also, another important thing - when you breathe, try to keep your esophagus open - by that, I mean, don't gasp for air when you breathe in, simply because less air will come in. When you breathe, try to smile and create that sensation of surprise that appears when something unexpected but pleasant happens - breathe then, slowly, until you manage to control the air intake.
Let's see the results amigo
