Gmc Site Suggestion: Search

Hi, I have been a member of GMC for about a week now, but one thing I think I would find very useful would be a search feature on the site for finding lessons. Several times I have wanted to get back to a lesson that I saw but had to look in several different areas before I was able to locate it. Additionally, I wanted to find a lesson on speed picking and improving speed, but found myself looking in several different places (and still haven't found what I am looking for).

I would like to suggest a search box on the site so visitors/members can search the lesson available. The search could either be context based, searching the text of each lesson, or could be keyword based, searching a list of keywords assigned to each lesson.

That's my suggestion. Hope I put it in the right category.

Thanks,
KK

Just bookmark the lessons you want to keep going back too. That's what I do.

To save on the hassle of recoding to incorporate keyword searches, they could just create a single page with the lesson listings and just update it when the new lessons go up.

It is tough to find a lesson that you previously worked on and want to get back to. Sure we can bookmark them but Wah!! I don't want to reach for the mouse or keyboard to save a link with a guitar and wires every where. A page with every lesson listed nice and simple would be a big help or list them by instructor. A lot of times I remember who the instructor is but I cannot find the correct lesson.

Had a guitar hanging, just about waist high, and we are going to play these things until the day we die.

I remeber Kris mentioning in a post not too long ago that they were eventually going to have a search feature for the lessons.

Kristofer, you could work a google search into the site without too much trouble. Here's how: http://code.google.com/apis/ajaxsearch/web.html
