Let's dive back in to "Pick Skipping"! Just like last time, we are not going to pick the A string. This type of lick requires very solid palm muting or it will turn in to a big ball of noise really quickly. Keep a solid palm mute and use the power of your left hand to hammer on the notes. Even on the strings where you pick strike, use the same amount of finger power as you are using on the hammer on notes. Eventually you won't need the pick at all. Once the pick becomes a tone choice, more than a requirement, congrats you've arrived smile.gif

Same issues on 99 as 98. I see you sweeping up which is natural. Now that we are 100 or so in to these I wanted to challenge you guys. The A string should never be struck. It's always a hammer on. ON the ascent/way up the strings, strike the open E, hammer on the A, Strike the D, on the way back down (still in the first position) hammer the fretted A string and fretted E and then strike the open E. This is the basic loop. When you move up one fret, strike fretted d string only and hammer the the fretted A and E. It's in the pick notation in the tab. If you can get this down it will open up your playing. It does not feel natural so please slow way down. I know it's fun to just jump to shred and sometimes speed will cover issues. This isn't one of those times. Slow and steady wins the race until youcan train your hand to pick skip. smile.gif

BINGO!!! That's what I'm looking for on this one. That strange pick skipping pattern is the focus of this quick lick. You can use it to play licks like this that sound like they are all picked notes, but in fact, only a couple of pick strikes are happening during the series. It makes it sound like one is playing much faster than is really happening. You got great hand power so the hammer ons are really good. You got this one!
You just...

LEVELED UP!!!

Take 1 Sarge, muting this and QL98 was one of the hardest things ever and I'm probably overdoing it.

It's honestly one of the toughest things I've ever written. Which is why I based several quick licks, Missions, etc. on it smile.gif It also works on high strings as well!
