What did you think of this years festival?
I was positively surprised, Faith No More and Gogol Bordello were great!

Heck, Ivan, people come from Australia - what's a few 1000 kilometers?
Anyway, of course I went. 12th year out of 15 (I actually skipped three most rainy ones, except Sunday in 2007). And
great festival, as usual! Saw more artists this year, got less wasted. Also had a plethora of high points:
- Nine Inch Nails - absolute high point of many amazing concerts
- Faith No More - they've still got it, even if it didn't show during the first 2.0 concerts
- Gogol Bordello - biggest party
- Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - would have preferred him on Green/Arena, though, even if it doesn't make logistic sense
- Social Distortion
- The Bronx
- Pete® Doherty - that man is still so much rock'n'roll it's unbelievable
- Fucked Up
- Satyricon
- Orka
- Mono
- Skambankt
- Gang Gang Dance
- Tim Christensen - surprised here, since I mainly went with nostalgia of his harder rock days, and that's what he pretty much returned to, only better. Still probably the best Danish guitarist, tone-wise, if he's not exactly metal virtuoso material
- M. Ward
- Get Well Soon
... just to mention my 5/6 star rated ones
Nibe? Jeez...

That the acoustic part/area Kaneda? Saw Nick do a solo set a few years ago (Boat Man Call's era) and 'in concert' - he was sublime...
- Pete® Doherty - that man is still so much rock'n'roll it's unbelievable
...
When he turns up

Nah, the stages at Roskilde aren't really split up into genres/styles that much anymore. Arena is simply the second largest, "indoor" stage with a really nice semi-intimate atmosphere although it holds 17000 people.
Nick did a really great concert there in 97 (when it was still called "Green stage")...
While this year he played on the largest, Orange, which is really more suited for stadium rock. The Grinderman project worked better on it last year.
As for Pete, well, not showing up is also rock'n'roll... but he
did show up - and a bit more. Spent half an hour before the concert walking around the audience giving high fives, and a good deal of time afterwards playing sing-along with random festival guests

Mono would have been awesome to see. But I'd hate to see em in a huge Festival for musical purpose. I don't think there music would transcribe too much to a large audience. Whatever, they're still cool.

Wouldn't and didn't, which is why they played for a couple of 100 people on one of the smaller stages.
