Hey guys! I don't know why but I just remembered the day that I found Kris advertisement at Fotolog (old days!), talking about Guitarmasterclass and his approach to guitar.l I remember that I found him very charismatic and decided to visit the site. The rest is history.
So I get curious to know how did you find this amazing site and what was your first thought?
I was searching about Rise Against style guitar lessons
found it while surfing the internet in 2009. but gave up since it was seeking money for registration
Bogdan found me on a Telecaster forum and asked if I'd like to check GMC out.
It's a totally different focus than what I'm usually into and I dig the different perspective.
I remember in 2010, somewhere in March, being with Marius Pop (he was an instructor here) one of my guitarist friends here in Romania and her told me about this amazing place. The next thing I knew, I was checking it out I wrote to Kris in May and sent him a video I did. The rest... well as Gabe said History
I was head hunted...
I think it was 2 years or 1 before i actually had this account. i can't recall how or why, but i'v came cross Lian's lessons here at gmc and the young me was like WOOOWWW
I found it through Andre Nieri Than suddenly Kristofer contacted me Anyway I think I've seen some cool vids from GMC before
I really liked the lessons kris did for an online guitar forum around 2006 or so - I really loved the way he did his lessons and his sense of humour, then ordered his course.
then I was checking out his siet "freeguitarlicks"....and after some month I joined GMC....
...and of course, being called a brick by your teacher is somehow special......
I actually first heard about GMC from a forum post in the first guitar lessons website I subscribed to, Infiniteguitar.com .
Years later, I decided to join GMC after looking more into Kristopher Dahls lessons on youtube, and upon discovering that the community here blows IG out of the water! Infinite guitar has less posts in the forums per week than I alone make in a day here! I still have my subscription to IG, there are great lesson materials there...However, the heart of GMC is in the community, and that is more incredibly precious than a million lesson packages.
I think in my case, all started with a challange with myself created by Darek
In June this year, I found that Darek is instructor in GMC and one month I was present at his Vchat as a guest. But then I not searched to much on site and I didn't know to much about GMC.
In July, Darek told me that he make Mentolwhore collab and he would like me to join. I said I can't play metal, I never improvised on metal and it's a level to high for me. He explained me how to think to improvise on metal and told me somethnig that I will surely never forget: "the challanges are what gives us most improvement in how we understand music". I realized that he was right and in that moment I made my account in GMC and of course the challenge with myself: my take for Mentholwhore Now this community became part of my life
I was searching the web for a guitar site that looked/felt different that what I'd been used to. So many sites seem to have forums that flowing with negativity and rude folks I found GMC and started reading through the forums and was really impressed wiht how supportive and laid back everyone was. I contacted gmc right away via email and they checked out my youtube channel. This was before the Live Video Chat thing was really going on very much here. I said I"d love to do some live Video Chat Guitar Lessons and bam! Been here ever since
Todd
Back in the middle ages when the Internet was still somewhat young I saw a video on ultimate-guitar, which led me to a site with weekyl guitar licks by Kris.
Then I joined, and we all know what happened.
How did I get to know GMC? ... Well Thx Ben for your 30 Shredders : D
I was at the time into rockabilly cause my classical guitar teatcher started teatching me that
Like the next step from the old school stuff
And I found Ivans rockabilly solo, which btw is a great solo
I saw Kris Youtube channel, It was the 5 string sweeping lesson and I was sold I actually saw Jamplay first and tried it out and did not like it then found Guitarmasterclass and the people were nicer and way more liked the format.
around may 2012 I somehow stumbled on this video n was like *a Buckethead lesson* O_O!!

It's so nice to read each of this posts. It's awesome to see how each of you found the site in different ways but everybody agrees about how beautiful, supportive and friendly this community is. This is the first things that impacted me the first day I was introduced at the site. I remember that the same day I was already jamming with some guys from different parts of the world via msn (old days without Vchats) and I was amazed. The site and the community keeps on growing and the spirit keeps on the same.
Well I first heard of Blind Guardian somewhere around 2 years ago, and was looking up random stuff about them when I came across Marcus's blog and read the whole thing in one night, where he mentioned being an instructor here. It took long enough, but here I am. I've only been here a day, but I am quite enjoying this place already.
I didn't actually find GMC, but Bogdan found me on TheGearPage, and that led me to this wonderful website/community I'm very glad that I ended up here, I've learned many things, and hope to learn more
Kris videos are the ones You could watch all over gain and show to Your friends - even those who don't play guitar at all
I did a search for some Modal lessons and GMC came up in one of the top search results with a link to David Wallimans lessons.
I didn't join straight away but after hanging around in the Forums reading for a while I was hooked. I then joined and very quickly got into sharing as much of my knowledge as was requested.
As has been said...The rest is History!!
I got a youtube advertisement saying, If you joined 2 years ago this could have been you, or something in that sense.
And I love how mr dahl handled trolls.
Troll : Man this video sucks
Mr Dahl : Make sure to watch all of them to make sure they all suck !
Found it a few years ago through YouTube I think! I was registered with the same username but stopped because I couldn't afford paying at the time I'm glad to be back though. I remember pretty much all the exercises I practiced on this website and they did help a lot through the years!
It was just after I started teaching myself how to play guitar. I was bored at work one day and started looking for guitar lessons online and stumbled across GMC. I looked around a bit and when I got home that night I signed up right away
I may not get here as much as I once did but I always come back. This place is great!! I have made many friends and learned so much.
rok
Hehe, I see that there are quite a few stories here
