Well, to be honest, I really didnt like this lesson. It sounded terrible for me even though I love other Muris's stuff. I dont know if its the amp setup or anything but it just sounded something NOT delta blues... And slide guitar only sounds great if you play delta blues in my opinion.

Thanks for the lesson still! And keep em coming!

Hi Street Musician smile.gif

I fully appreciate your opinion and the fact that you love slide ONLY in delta blues stuff.
Unfortunately, this ISN'T pure delta playing and the sound I took is a bit more heavy.
Chord progression is typical 12 bars blues but this sort of playing is also great for rock stuff,in my opinion smile.gif.
This is still only a SLIDE lesson, not Delta Blues lesson.
Cheers!! smile.gif

I also really liked this lesson. Let's not forget that this is a LESSON, not a song. I also like slide best when it comes to raw blues. Robert Johnson, Bjørn Berge and Johnny Winter for instance. But I still think this lesson sounds great smile.gif

All this political correctness. *sigh*
Develop some bad habits. You will need them.
We've already established that being a regular drinker and smoker makes slide easier.

Muris...I cant speak for everyone else who is interested, but I wanted a lesson on slide due to the fact that I LOVE to play Skynyrd tunes. When one wants to play this type of music, one MUST learn how to play the slide, due to a great percentage of their tunes have slide in them, thanks to Mr. Gary Rossington. I loved your vid and I hope you come across with more of the same cool.gif

Also, is it neccessary to retune your guitar to the key that you're playing?

I agree, I loved it! Slide sounds wonderful with the blues, but there's plenty of other more rock oriented stuff it goes great with, just listen to Ry Cooder (even though he's very bluesy, he's done some more rock stuff), Derek Trucks, George Harrison, etc.

that was how glass slides got the name "Bottlenecks".

You can do it yourself, just smash the glass beer bottle or whatever and slip the Neck over your finger.

Although, It's very Important that you sand down the Edges so that it's smooth, you wouldn't want to cut yourself.

But, Slides are SOOO Cheap.

about the Same price as a Pack of Strings.

in the US they sell for Average $5.

for 10 dollars you could get a Metal and a Glass one and try them both smile.gif

Many thanks for your support guys,it's well appreciated!! smile.gif

Travelin' Man @ I did this lesson in standard tunning so it's not necessary.
But there are some licks and chops that need alternate tunning,
I'll talk about that in next slide lessons,I promise. smile.gif

Sounds like you got my full attention here. And be prepared for a barrage of questions. I'll start now with the HIGH ACTION you described in a different thread.

How do you go about making a "HIGH action" guitar verse a standard store bought?
