I am trying to save a project to a usb stick to transfer to another computer , i don't want to accidentally erase something thats why I want to put the file on a stick rather than computer to computer . When i save the project file it only saves the main files and midi and leaves all recorded files within the project . How do I get those files to transfer with the project to the usb stick ?

Thanks in advance for your help

I usually open a file right at the beginning of a project if such thing will be needed. Locate where the files are saved and try to copy that to the usb stick.

i was hoping there was an easier way than looking at your project , writing all the proper file names , hunting thru hundreds of files , dragging them to the stick and then individually dropping them back into reaper , seems like they would have have come up with a better work flow than this , seems if you drag your main project file over it would carry all the necessary files as well

I may have found it, select "save project as" and in that window click "move all media into project directory". I don't have reaper project to test but this option did carry a wave I placed on the project.

When you save, just check the little box that says "COPY ALL MEDIA" that way it won't move your original media, it will just make a copy. If you click "MOVE MEDIA" it will move all of your files and remove them from the original location.

This type of thing is why I love LOGIC X so much. All media files are bundled in to a single package/file. So you can save a project anywhere and it automatically puts all the associated media files with it. But then again, it's mac based so it's intended to be smooth. Windows is a different beast.

tried this ,thought this was a winner , also tried mertay's suggestion , the file actually grew so I thought I was home free, but alas it didn't work. I don't understand why they would not have it working like your logic does

Well, it's not a Macintosh only App. smile.gif Reaper is cross platform so it has to be a bit "windowsy" it seems. It does not want to clump all the files together unless you tell it to do so. However, if you do tell it to do so using the COPY FILES check box, it should create a directory/folder with all of your project media. At least, it sure does when I try it on my mac smile.gif
