Hey guys, so these past weeks were amazing here in south america because we had the Copa America. The Copa America is like the world cup but just for south america countries and mexico, it is the oldest cup in the world i think, if you like football or like we call it here "Futbol" you would love the copa america.

Anyway i'm very excited because my country (peru) hasn't made a nice role in any major cup in the latest 15-20 years, after a great period of football legends, like el nene cubillas or cesar cueto we won last saturday the 3rd place of the copa america with a young very talented team, and have also the top scorer paolo guerrero.

You gotta see the goals against venezuela on saturday:

I'm very very happy with my team, and looking forward to the world cup!

So guys, do you like football? i think it's quite popular around the world but haven't seen much talking about it biggrin.gif

Nice, although I did see Suarez against you guys a week before tongue.gif

I love playing the game - every Saturday afternoon for ~4 hours in the park.

Man, you have to start somewhere! I'd really recommend getting into it before your joints start to give you problems.

I saw it, it was a great match maybe the best of the whole cup. Messi was INCREDIBLE, he's such a talent.

honestly, I would stay away from contact sports if I were you, it not worth the risk.

However, admittedly the risks are less than you would take playing this version of the game.

Haha, I hope you're kidding! I'm careful about calling football a contact sport, especially when you're just playing in the park or with friends. If you're in goal without proper gloves, or somebody trambles your fingers with full studs after you fall down (not common and they'd pretty much be doing this on purpose), then you can sustain hand injuries - it's unlikely.

Steve Harris used to (maybe still does?) play on tour:

I miss playing football with my high school friends wink.gif
It was so cool even though I'm not that talented. Tennis was the only sport that worked well for me wink.gif

I enjoyed the Women's world cup. Yes the Japanese beat us in the finals, but our girls were definitely cuter. Cute is important to me in women's sports.

I feel the what you call football (and what I call soccer) is really a lot like basketball, and nothing like American Football. It might not seem that way, but when you think about it, it is really is similar to basketball in how it is played, except that the feet are used rather than the hands to move the ball.

I am so lost with this biggrin.gif in Romania, football is easily put in the same basket with hooligans, bad mannered people and mad supporters who most of all want to destroy stuff... i know it's not about that, but this is what it has become. I like to play but I am far from being passionate about it smile.gif

I used to play all the time when I was in my teens, and now I seriously regret that I stopped playing.

While we're on the subject of South American soccer, I heard that whenever Bolivia plays a match at home they almost always win it. Supposedly this happens because the other teams never adapt to the high altitude of the stadiums in La Paz, and run out of breath before the end of the game biggrin.gif Is there any degree of truth to this?
