Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hello, I decided to publish my first REC Take. I'm not totally satisfied, but this is what I have done better at the moment. Excellent lesson, Thanks ...

Hey there! No worries- it's not that bad at all wink.gif First of all - review all breaks - compare to original lesson and you'll see there is one more clear break, right before each chord changes. Second thing - timming is slightly off at some points. Less nerves, more relax while playing smile.gif

Make sure you do not press too hard (left hand fingers), Too much pressure will cause pitch issues (to high pitch of fretted notes). Also it's wort to recheck tuning a few times (make compromise between open strings and positions). Guitar is already hard to tune perfectly. Each cent on a tuner is worth a piece of gold (Take a look at last chord - it sounds out of tune (rest of lesson has only little tuning issues) This is rather caused by the left hand. Try to avoid similar moments of "control lost".

Hi friend!

Good job working on this one. There are some things that you need to have in mind in order to improve your take. These are not dramatic but fixing and focusing on them will have a very important impact on this lesson's performance.

- The strumming that you are using is different compared with the original lesson. Please re-check tabs to notice the difference.
- Your timing is not precise so once you fix the differences focus on going tight with the backing track.
- Your tone could have a more balanced EQ, I feel that it lacks some presence. Try adding some high mid frequencies.

Besides this, your chord changes sound good and clear so once you fix the previous things you'll take will be flawless.

Keep on the hard work! wink.gif

Hey GuillaumeLucas - welcome to the REC zone! smile.gif

First of all, congratulations on submitting your first REC take.

My impression is that this take is pretty strong, this means that you feel rather confident in the performance.
Your chord changes are very smooth and don't seem to feature any extra movements which would make changing chords less efficient so good job on that. Darius has pointed an issue with tuning. My suggestion would be to re-check the guitar tuning before recording to make sure it is spot on and then when fretting down the chords, try to press down with less force on the frets. This is something we all do more or less when we want to feel "precise and confident" - we press down those chords with too much force. This can in some cases work ok and sometimes it would de-tune some notes in the chords which would make them sound like they are played on slightly out of tune guitar. This is just something to have in mind when playing chords stuff on the electric guitar.

Now, I'd like to reflect on areas which you can work on to improve your take. First of all would be the strumming rhythm pattern. You have some extra strums in the rhythm, while Bear uses almost only downstrokes accenting certain beats in the backing track. Your take sounds more fluid due to these added strums while the original lesson uses more chopped up feel (staccato way of playing). I think the rhythm you have used is certainly valid one from the music perspective, but since in the REC section we do strive to match the original lesson 100% this would be the area where we need to downgrade. Next area of improvement would be timing. Bear uses a chopped up right in his take in order to force student to do two things: count and feel the beat of the backing track (tap your foot to the beat) AND be precise timing wise when playing. This is because the rhythm pattern uses strictly defined downstrokes and then the chords are cut a bit short by loosening the pressure applied with the left hand. This kind of groove requires a very tight timing in return. Like in funk music, it really needs to be spot on. In your take, your timing is solid but you do start losing the groove which makes it feel less tight. This is mostly because of added up-down strums pattern at the end of each bar of music.

I would love to see you do another take on this one, I think that with just a bit more practice you can do it.
