A set of DiMarzio D Activator pickups were designed for the scorching sound modern metal requires, and then some! More up to date features include a reversed headstock, Edge III tremolo, die-cast tuners, and chrome hardware. Case not included."

Duncan is selling one on this site in the GMC Classified section maybe ask him about it or maybe your friend could buy it off him. Although $700 is a cheap price. smile.gif

the xiphos is a great guitar...the pick ups in them sound great for metal, and the edge 3 is decent as well...but if i can make a suggestion,

tell you friend to spend the extra $100, get an ibanez prestige model...you can get some pretty good ones for $800, they come with a case, and have the top level in craftsmanship ibanez has to offer....you also get the edge pro (or zero) trem which i prefer over a floyd rose...

either way though, the xiphos is a good guitar, its just that for $700, you would expect an MIJ with a top level trem..
