Boss GT10 is teh best options of all of those.
The fact with the POD and Spider is that POD is a processor and a Spider is a processor with speaker. Guitar speaker always adds more quality to the sound than, say, ordinary speakers. So no matter what you buy you will not improve your tone TOO MUCH. If you only want to play (and record) at home I would recommend guitar rig 3, killer software that offers a whole lot of great sounds and effects.

Could someone please explain this to me? In conclusion, I am simply looking for some advice and information on each of these and other multi effects available on the market, including their recording capabilities, sound and tone quality (including the amp, cab and effects available), ability to be used before my Line 6 Spider 3 30W and how this will sound and just general quality of the product and level of support provided by the company. Thanks GMC, all input and advice on these and other devices appreciated. EDIT: I should probably list some of my influences and the sounds I am going for: *John Petrucci (his crunch but more importantly solo tones from tracks like Lines in the Sand, Trial of Tears, Hollow Years-Live at Budokan, Forsaken, In the Presence of Enemies Part 1, Erotomania, Paradigm Shift etc) *Joe Satriani (Until We Say Goodbye, Satch Boogie, The Extremist) *Michael Angelo Batio (No Boundaries, Tribute to Randy) *Yngwie Malmsteen (Baroque and Roll, Black Star) All right, I have no clue what you should get. but i do have a little obscure piece of advice that kind of puzzled me. I have the line six spider three 15. I tried the thirty at a guitar shop recently, and doesn't sound half as good as the fifteen. I don't know why this is. I can get killer tones from the fifteen with a little tinkering, but no matter what I did with the thirty it would not stop sounding transparent. Maybe somebody more experienced could explain why...please? Edit: and by the way, there is some fizz on the insane channel, but the metal channel is dead silent. Squier strat (probably going to get rid of it and get another guitar instead) :) Line 6 spider amp (not actually used for anything, just acts as a speaker) Digitech Gnx2 (kind of old, but cheap, and sounds amazing!) |

I would suggest getting a new amp, the BOSS GT-10 and the POD for you birthday(If you can get that much). Marshalls' and Randals' are pretty good and you could probably get more tones out of it than your line 6.
