Floating Bridge on RG570. Notes are going flat on all strings after not even a minute of play.

I have three springs back there and they are tightened as far as I can get them. String gauge is .10.

Thoughts?

The tension between the strings and the springs must be balanced. If you have the springs tightened as far as they will go that is going to be too much even for 10's unless the bridge is still tilted forward which I doubt.
Read through this. It might help.

Are the strings new? Takes a few hours and some playing for them to fully stretch.

No, they are not new. Also, I was just thinking about the properties of the floating bridge. If it is flat, that means the tension is not as tight as it should be, therefor it needs to be tightened.

This guitar was set at Eb but I wanted it back in standard, so I tuned it up and tightened the springs.

I had no problem with it before, now it just keeps going flat. Been like this for about a week

I'm not sure what you mean by the properties of the bridge being "flat." Ideally the bridge should "float" parallel to the the guitar body when you have the tension balanced.

Sorry, I mean the notes are falling flat. You tune them to pitch but they are dropping to near D#. The bridge looks parallel to the body.

Is this something happening recently or has it always happenned?

Tuning pegs could be the problem too.

Basically you have to get the screws on the back, back to where they were before you tuned the guitar to Eb. I still struggle with mine every time I change the strings and I always put the same size on it.

Unlock the nut, and tune the guitar to standard, lock the nut, and then tune it again. See if it works. If not, add couple of more springs to balance out the tension.

I believe you have to tighten spring a bit more,
if tune goes flat all the time it means that strings still have higher tension than springs.
This tension should be balanced, as said above,
try tighten more and see if it works.

This can be really frustrating sometimes,
when changing string gauge or tuning as in your case,
I salute fixed or blocked ones instead. wink.gif

If the bridge is still not balanced after you tightened the springs, you need to add another spring. In 1-2-4-5 formation smile.gif
