> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

For this take I set the pickup selector switch to split coil mode for a twangy brighter sound. I'm wondering if my ears have adjusted to perhaps is an overly bright tone. Let me know if you think so, cause I may have gotten sort of desensitized to it. At first during mixing of this, the two parts were panned to the center and the mix sounded muddy and just loud. Then I panned each part a little left and right and it made a big difference. The bass is easier to hear, I was able to turn down both guitar parts and every thing blended much better. Funny how a subtle change can make a big difference. All in all, I'm pleased with this take. The trickiest part was the lick starting at 0:33 and transitioning from the previous lick. I think I got it right, maybe an extra note is in there who knows. smile.gif Great lesson Alberto! SRV was a genius and this lesson was an inspiration for sure.

That was a very good and consistent performance. Although the tone is quite different, there's nothing wrong with it to my ears smile.gif You could do with making your vibrato a bit heavier in places to add strength and passion to the licks.. this will really make it sound like you are playing it as opposed to just turning in a polished recital. That's just something to bear in mind for the future but as it is your REC's are always near flawless cool.gif

Sounds awesome, and I agree with Ben about vibrato. It's a bit "dry" sounding, try to give in some emotions and insert some vibratos - it's blues after all! smile.gif

Awesome take man! I really like your feel and performance. As guys said - little bit more vibrato and you're there! smile.gif
