Do you have a phone that can record?
Thats what I used to do if I had something I wanted to solo over. If you havn't already watched Marty Friedman's melodic control vid then I recomend that too, http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=57...melodic+control As other people have said, there's no set method or rules. If you get a few licks that you like then if you put them together and gradually build it up you'll have something. If you want the basic chords to jam over then you can use http://www.wholenote.com/default.asp?iTarg...der/builder.asp -------------------- Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day. Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way http://www.myspace.com/cashnz |

Oh yea!!! Didn't Kris ALWAYS tell us to alternate pick? Well Marty Friedman says quote "The way they pick is going to make it sound exactly the same!" unquote And before u can tell he's talking about alternate picking and he says he dosen't always follow the rules! So should I believe Marty or Kris? This post has been edited by beebo: Apr 29 2007, 02:03 AM |

I think basically what he is saying is that sometimes a different picking pattern can give a slightly different sound.
Like some people debate about downpicking master of puppets and swear by it while others prefer alternate (as it is easier) For fast runs, alternate picking is really the only feasable way. For slower stuff then there's nothing wrong with experimenting. (IMHO) -------------------- Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day.
