I use a piece of newspaper - simple.
Looks like someone's into his Yngwie and that was nice string breakage at the end... |

Nice solution.
I ended up putting self adhesive felt underneath and between the springs. This looks a lot cleaner. |

Hmm, I wouldn't have thought it was an issue. Can someone post a before/after, or at least explain what this does? Do the noisy springs affect the pickups sound or what? Springs continue to vibrate and produce sound after you mute the strings. Pickups pick these tiny amounts of vibrations and they are heard as a kind of reverberation in your amp.
