Some interesting subject areas for me. I would be really unhappy if I couldn't get something physical in my hands when my fav bands release a new CD but some of my mates only buy albums off of i-tunes these days and would never buy a CD.

What are your habits when buying physical and digital media.

Please no talk about illegal downloads. This is purely about LEGAL Physical and Digital Media purchases.

I use itunes a lot as my source for music, I like it this way coz I can just buy the individual tracks that I like.

I`ve not got a huge collection of CD`s, I do buy physical media occasionally, especially if its a really great album that I want in the car as well.

I think there will always be a form of physical media available although I think we`ll be encouraged more and more as time goes on to buy it digitally from the net.

I've never bought an mp3 yet but I'm sure the day will come when I do. I have about 2500 CD albums and I have ripped all these to my ipod. There is nothing like having 2500 albums to choose from. Especially when they are all in the wrong boxes biggrin.gif

Yeah it does quite. I have all the CD's sorted out in alphabetical order on shelves but then no CD is in the right case rendering it useless. OrganisedConfusion sums me up perfectly. smile.gif

Does anybody only buy vinyl also?

I love my CD collection I havent bought an Mp3 yet, i would definately hate to see physical media go, but i couldnt care less if digital media was gone. If it would stop pirating which i doubt it will, people will always find a way to steal stuff.

But the main reason i love my physical media is because I have all my CD's on my car and when im not in my car i've got them ripped to my PC.

My other main form of physical media now is old school records lol I got that old record player i posted about a while ago working last weekend biggrin.gif

Both physical and digital always available

I buy physical cd's all the time, I basically never have any money since when I have money I go and buy cd's. I have not bought a single digital song in my entire life, and I don't intend to, yet I still have a lot of music only in digital format. You do the maths rolleyes.gif

I'm pro-physical media. There's nothing like the smell of a newly bought album, or the feeling I get from them when I listen to them on my stereo =)

I have well over 100 CDs, probably around 150 or more. I love them, I love going through the little booklet thing, I love looking at the artwork, and reading the lyrics while listening to the music. I just like having them around. I'm not against downloading albums tho, I've downloaded 3 albums from iTunes(Muris' CD was one of them), because they are quite cheap, and it's convenient, and I can get many CDs there that are hard to find in Hawaii. I do miss the physical stuff when I download them tho.

I think there is enough demand for the physical media to keep companies producing them. But I think downloading is great for bands just starting out and have no money.

I like physical media the most. But buying your music in digital format is way more effective in many ways.

Well I prefer physical media - and still have about 600 vinyl albums (used to have a lot more but sold loads before we moved to Spain), plus over 1000 cds - but I also buy from ITunes etc. I prefer phsical because I still like album sleeves smile.gif but I now buy more fro ITunes because of convenience - there isn't a record shop for miles and postage to where I live can be a bit hit and miss rolleyes.gif .

Cheers,
Tony

I buy all my CD's from Amazon pretty much, but I always rip them to WMA format for my hard disk. I love my CD's but its handy haveing them stored on my PC for playback smile.gif

Yeah it's same for me. I have all my CD's and I rip every one into ITunes and put them all on my IPod. Then I have my CD's for whenever I want them in home or in cars and my IPod for on the move and it's great. I will never stop buying physical media and I will probably buy some digital media at some time but the is nothing better than having the booklet to read through and see all your CD's on the shelf. Although Digital Media saves much space biggrin.gif

I buy all my music in the form of CD's, And im proud of my collection smile.gif

I buy from the store and online, Online when I have to get rarer CD's that arent sold or are hard to find in America.

And I think both Physical and Digital will always be around, I hear record companies complain there loosing money, But there still making plenty, according to what I've read.

EDIT

Like a few other people, I do rip them to WMA, and put them on my MP3 Player, I love my CD's, but carrying around a CD player is just too much hassle laugh.gif

This is what I do as well, although I download a lot of albums before they hit the stores to get a preview wink.gif

Oh ya, I also put all my songs on my iPod. Going thru piles and piles of CDs isn't cool when you just wanna listen to A Dangerous Meeting or something.
