Hey guy!
Am I alone with this one? Every since I was little, whenever I see blood I get all queasy and lightheaded. My senior year in high school I passd out in Biology watching a video of a dissection
It's not really a fear for me, it just happens when I see it - I remember reading an article somewhere that some people think it's a defense mechanism from my ancestors long ago - when wounded in battle they would pass out and appear dead but I don't know how much truth there is to this.
Is anyone else like this?
EDIT: Title is supposed to be Hemophobes - silly iPhone
I'm not a huge fan of it. I cannot stand it when people talk of operations or gruesome injuries in my company. Hell, I don't even like it when women talk about their time of the month.
If I saw blood streaming from a minor hand injury or broken noise, eyebrow etc, it's ok.. but if it's blood associated with nerve tingling pain then it gets me. Or anything to do with a high volume of blood.. or blood coming from places it shouldn't come from.
Computer game, movie or comic violence I am completely ok with.
Ironically, I'm going to be giving blood next month
nah, I dont care about the sight of blood at all, maybe Im just too manly
Statues on the other hand..... now they freak the hell out of me
Depends. Major pulse points like wrists, inside the elbow, back of knee and neck will get me but just blood and cut type injuries in general don't freak me out much.
i work in the funeral industry and see all manner of bodily fluids in all their varying states of decomposition. that doesn't give me the willies. what does though, is the sound (or feeling, really) that the first incision into the skin makes. even with surgical grade scalpels, human tissue is a lot more resilient that one would presume. not sure when i'll get used to it. or maybe there are some things we shouldn't ever really be used to.
