Hi Korblitz!! Welcome to your Gab's Army thread!!

Could you please tell me a bit about you, your musical tastes, influences, strengths and weaknesses? I would need some videos of you playing rhythm and solo guitar, so please post your best material here. If you have some music or ideas of your own, also post them here. Also let me know how you think that I can help you and what are your expectations for our job. You can check the other Army's thread to discover the different modalities of this project.

The principles of our Army are:

+ Improve your technique
+ Make music and solos
+ Have fun
+ Destroy the enemy (hahaha not realy just kidding... )

Hi mate! those are really good lesson choices to work on. The three ones need some more work. Are you practicing every day? Do you have any type of guitar routine?

Which are you music influences? favorite bands, players?

I go to this website that makes guitar routines...I not sure If I could disclose the name. I think it's not a rival for GMC but I don't want to get kicked out of GMC.

You put have much time to practice and it gives you a set of routines. I'm not practicing Music Theory on daily basis...

I know it's stupid to say, but I listened to a lot of music. Right now, I'm deeply absorbed with Opeth.

A taste of my weird taste:

Hi mate! You have a very wide musical taste! The first video has some relation with my new lesson called "Surf Rock". I'm now checking the Ulver song, and I'm really enjoying the overall feel and those clean guitar arpeggios.

Listening to a lot of music is very cool and also helpful because your ear is constantly being trained. It would be even more useful If you can also this time also to analyse those songs, their structure, arrangements, sing the main melodies, play over them, try to find out the progressions and also jam over it.

How is your current routine?

I'm following a website to do my practice regime. After that, I wonder off into doing small riffs, chord changes, figure out triads on the fretboard, work on palm mute strummming. It really depends after the practice schedule.

I was looking at the surfer lesson. It's seems nice.

That sounds great! Feel free to post videos here playing your routine, or riff ideas. I will give you all the feedback that I think is necesary.

The next band to analyse at my Vchats will be Opeth. wink.gif

Hi mate! This is going well! There is one section in the higher strings where you decrease the volume a lot, what's happening there? Is your hand tired?

Yes, my hand was getting tired. And I change the strings, the highest strings are 9. 11. 14., I still don't like the feel of them...they seem like they want to break on any second...so I proceeded with caution. [I used to play with 11's]

I was working on the Modern Collab but my "solo" is weak...I don't like it.

My thought process: Divide the song in three parts....three different segements....

A theme, a repeating pattern and a wild "b4lls to the walls" wailing segment.
From the 5th fret down to the 16th fret.

Here's the "solo" + backing track

Hi mate, dividing the backing in 3 is a very good desicion. When I hear your solo, I can note that division, but I think that you should work more on each section. The first two sections are a bit lazy, you repeat the same notes too many times. Try making it evolve a bit more. You have to incorporate the concept of phrasing, that dialogue (question & answer) among phrases is what's lacking. Maybe you will find a clear explanation here: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar-im...sation-phasing/

When I hear your solo I notice two things: 1) you have to incorporate more licks to your guitar vocabulary // 2) you have to use your voice/mind to compose guitar melodies.

What do you think of this?

You are more than right. I really thought about the three parts and tried (or maybe I did it on purpose) to have 3 distinct zones or regions.

I have to agree, the first two sections and the third one are really lazy and underveloped. I clearly run of of ideas and didnd´t found anything to add. Maybe it´s because I have nothing to say...I have no idea.

That´s a good page, I never seen it before. I´m going to check it out. The call and answer, I guess I need to listen to Maquee Moon by Television.

That´s funny...I only know one lick on A minor and I didnd´t use it.
Yeah, I just used the fretboard and not my mind to ¨compose¨ the solo.

I think it lacks content because there´s no content.

Oh well, I´ll work on it. Play around with it.

Thanks for the link.

Cool, keep on playing around and try to find gmc lessons that include licks that could fit here, and then work on variations. That's a good starting point.
