Hi all!

We are very grateful to receive notifications on typos, broken links etc if you find any on GMC. To avoid getting too many topics started, please notify us here!

edit: For tab corrections please contact the instructor - as they are the ones who can fix it. When they have done so they will notify an admin (Maria or Kristofer), and we will republish the lesson so that it shows the correct tab).

Thank you! biggrin.gif

http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/three-level-solo-intermediate/index.htm

It says, "An error has occurred: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1" where the bookmark this, tabs, and stuff like that should be. Is this just my computer being psychotic again, or is this an error?

On Gabriel's Megadeth Lesson it say trash metal instead of thrash metal.

Great finding! We hadn't seen this!!

In the http://www2.guitarmasterclass.net/video-lessons.htm - Video Lesson window, we really miss the posibility of chosing from a list of instructors, "Lesson by Instructor" ...

Also It would be great if you made a "Profile of our Instructors Page", not at the Forum, but as a tag at the main-page ... The instructors here at GMC are so awesome that they really diserve a Profiling-page ... smile.gif
Also It could be good for bussiness wink.gif

Just an idea,

Theres a problem (not a typo) with the comments on the lessons, at least with what im practicing right now:

http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?act=post&do=reply_post&f=18&t=9706

when the comments are too long, it wont display the whole comments and thus, they will be cut by the table's border. Not sure if i explained that well... unsure.gif

Hello GMC typo police? Yes I would like to report an error on the GP tab for Gabriels F# RIff and Solo. In the 9th bar of the GP tab, the last 3 notes do not match what The Man is playing in video #3 or on the tab below it. Sounds okay either way really but it's just not right. heh!

I found a problem bookmarking the U2 lesson from David0,

This lesson: http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/misc-lessons/double-thumb-slap-lesson/

You need a space after the first period and "Its a very useful technique " should read "It's a very useful technique".

There are some other typos, too.

I noticed that the theory board hasn't got a fast reply button either.

Posted by: Kristofer Dahl Jan 12 2008, 12:25 PM

Thanks for the findings!

Not all boards have the fast reply button - as short answers aren't always desirable. However I agree that this isn't very consistent throughout the board so we should probaly think a little about where to offer the fast reply option!

Is this lesson: http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/E-Csharp-minor-solo-lesson/

The fret board graphic shows C# minor pentatonic, but it's C# minor blues scale.

Tempo is also listed as 200 BPM, but should read 100 BPM.

Im fairly sure thats not an error, as they are basically the same scale. I think Gabriel has given the C# pentatonic and shown where you can add the blue note.

Login Details?
Common sense says that I should be able to login, but I cannot (stragely enough, I can login to the Forums)

How about a forgot my Password, or Reset my Password function.
I'm certain I know my login details, but it doesn't do me a lot of good if I can't login and can't access the site.

Please advise.

Hi there, Is it my imagination or is there not a real "LOG IN" button on the Main Guitarmasterclass.net page. It seems that there should be a login page I could bookmark that would allow me to be sure I am logged in when entering the site. So far I have only signed in by accessing a members only area and then I am prompted.

In the 3rd vid of http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/am-beginner-solo/, 3rd video, the GP tab does not match up with the tab below the vid or the video itself. It is missing the tap on the 16th fret. Nit picky I know but hey it is a mistake.

Hi, during this weekend I had problems to access the forum at home. All the other parts were accessible.

I noticed that all the other links start at www, while the forum starts at www2. I was actually able to enter the forum by using the www2 prefix:
http://www2.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/
But I could not post anything, and could only read some topics by substituting www for www2. I tried both firefox and IE, and GMC was the only site I had problem...

Now I am accessing from the university and it is working fine.

I would like to solve it, because, well I should not be on GMC forum at work/university tongue.gif

I had it aswell, I mean the just click login and no panel coming up. I never had to fill in the form on my pc after logging in, but i'm not sure about it. I think it's because your computer saves the cookies.

Hi,

I have noticed a few times a tiny little "bug" in the forum ... it's so small that it's nearly unimportant, but i want to let you know anyway ..

When creating a new Topic and i use a special character in the Topic title like " with a big letter afterwards like "R ... the letter is displayed small "r
It happened two times to me in the upload forum, this is why i noticed it.

... now i really feel picky smile.gif

Hi Maria,

I found today that in http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/rhythm-guitar/I-got-rhythm-guitar9-funk-basics-IV/ the main video and the video 1 are not working.

Thanks.

Posted by: DethKlok Aug 9 2008, 10:09 PM

This isn't really a problem, but I think a really great feature on the video/mp3 player would be if the sliding handles which let you loop parts of the video snapped to the beat of the song. That would make it easy to loop parts so they don't skip when it gets from the beginning to the end, because that really interrupts your playing.

Been thinking about something for the past few minutes:

Are thread titles automaticaly changed to capital letters for each word? It seems that way. However, some words shouldn't have capital letters, such as "of", "in" etc...

At least that's what I've been taught. Don't know if this is confirmable, and none the less, it's a very small "thing" that doesn't really matter. Just came to think about it.

I've have very slow throughput of videos for nearly one day. I live in the midwest USA, so the problem is probably local to my region.

I have tested throughput and it is normal. I have tried several computers, and also youtube to make sure that the problem is at your end. I am satisfied that it is.

Thank you.

Posted by: ItsMe Oct 7 2008, 08:55 PM

I couldn't leave feedback for at least five lessons in the last two weeks. Strange that is.

Posted by: fkalich Oct 7 2008, 09:41 PM

Just to emphasize how bad a problem this is, and to make it clear that I have established 100% that the problem is on your end (router or server). It takes 10 minutes for me to download a video. Every other site such as youtube is just as fast as normal. Speedtest came out normal. Just to beat the probability of this being my problem to zero, I rebooted everything, used different computers.

Definitely on your end, makes the site unusable, was going on last night, and now this afternoon, with no improvement at any time. I could not possibly be a problem on my end.

On the Posting guidelines in GMC classifieds he has this

3. Ads should conform to the posted example guideline advert - ads that don't won't be approved and will never be seen. Descriptions should be detailed, include an actual picture of the item to e sold (no sock photos please)

I think it should read

Kris I have had this problem in the past. People think their comments aren't posting but the comments don't post right away for some people. My comments on lessons take up to 2 hours to post so many think their comments haven't been posted but they eventually come up I believe.

Ok 2 out of 7 comments I left yesterday. For example Markus lesson, Lians lesson etc. I can't see my comments there. And the processing of the 2 you mentioned must have taken hours. I checked back 3 hours after I left the comments. Nothing. Now they are there I agree. Anyway that's weird. Is that related to a popup blocker or something else in my browser settings ???

I see you were in the other thread from a few days ago.

The problem has reappeared, not quite as bad as a few days ago, but still pretty poor performance, about 3 or 4 minutes to upload new videos. It was about 10 minutes a few days ago.

This is a US problem, maybe even midwest/west coast. This has been going on for about a half hour now. If it gets better I will add a comment. If I don't assume it has not gotten better.

edit: I take back the 3 or 4 minute estimate, I just timed one, about 8 minutes for the new video to complete. I also checked youtube just to be sure. youtube is coming in fine. I could do more tests, but considering that I did that a few days ago, I feel the chances of this being a different problem than the same a few days ago are slim.

I was thinking of doing that myself, but was lazy. It has improved, took about 2 minutes for a video, buffering came on 7 or 8 times. If the problem persists, I will do the traceroute thing and let you know what I find.

Posted by: fkalich Oct 9 2008, 06:03 PM

I have been running a trace route program, that gives a history of the packet performance over hops. The problem just cleared up, but I think it was occurring in Europe. Anyway, in the future, I will give you some screen shots if I have problems, so you have something to show exactly what is going on.

Posted by: fkalich Oct 9 2008, 08:34 PM

Ok, here is an example that I titled "LazyDogSlow", which I think gives a good analogy, such as with my dog today on his walk, who wants to stop every 50 yards to lay in the grass. Takes about 2 minutes to upload a short video, stops to buffer 7 or 8 times.

When I get examples of "SnailSlow" as it was on tuesday, or "RabbitFast" as it had been in the past (no buffers, videos loaded in less than 10 seconds), I will send those.

I was not aware we were served from Holland, thought it was local to US. Seems to me the last two interfaces are the problem, but I am not a network guy.

Posted by: fkalich Oct 10 2008, 11:06 AM

Kris.

You can look on this thread, I got some good performance, so you can compare, and see where the problem clearly has been. It is running well presently.

Posted by: fkalich Oct 13 2008, 04:15 AM

4 minutes and 45 seconds to load a video tonight. That has been typical speed,

They were so slow, that I timed one. I just want to emphasize to you how bad things are, and with the exception of some improvement late last week (that came and went), how they have been since last Tuesday.

I looked again, slow response from Amsterdam routers, dropped packets.

edit: my purpose here was not to complain, but just to make you aware of how poorly your provider has performed, over an extended period of time. As the problem is in the States, you can't see this directly. They should have known they had problems before any customer even called.

I am experiencing near 10 minute times to load a video in the US now.

Been going on for a week now. It was improved this morning, but that passed, it deteriorated over the day.

They are dropping about 10% of the packets in Holland. Who is your network provider, someone doing this part time out of his basement? If not, they are putting on an awfully good impression of someone doing this part time out of their basement.

edit: to those who might think 10% is not a big deal, if I remember my TCP/IP correctly, the effect is very compounded with packet losses. 10% is a huge problem.

Posted by: OrganisedConfusion Oct 14 2008, 09:03 AM

Here is an update we just got from the hosting company:

From what I have seen, they are passing the buck here. They have contracted with someone who is unreliable. I certainly don't do that even for my home. I think you can assume that they went with the cheap unreliable option, this is their blame, just as it would be my blame if I went with Bevis and Butthead internet service to save a buck, and my service failed.

This is what it looks like when we wait 10 minutes to see a video. You can see the problem is at the last two hops, not some distant provider. I believe you can ignore that 100% packet loss on hop 5. That is a security block I believe. You see 4 of those on any youtube connection. The problem is clearly at the end of the hose.

edit: I removed the name of the owner of the last two hops, you can look it up with a whois.

Well we have a repeat performance. Not as terrible yet as early in the month, but time will tell. QUOTE
In addition when putting chords together, it is common to use numbers greater than 7 - this makes sense when you consider how the chords are begin constructed. If we want to add for instance a 2nd to a chord, we will commonly do this using notes higher than the octave note (which is an 8th), so we talk about a 9th interval, which is in reality a 2nd interval moved up an octave - a 2nd is the root note plus one interval, the 9th is an octave (or 8th) pus one.

Should be plus. smile.gif

Can someone confirm that the tab in video 5 on http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/linkin_park_style_lesson/ is incorrect? I mean I know it is but check it anyway. I could not figure out why it sounded different when I played the tabs vs the video because I was not paying attention. This will drive newbies crazy since it is simple power chords that don't sound correct when matched up with the video.
It should be:

CODE
E||---------------------------|----------------------------||
   B||---------------------------|----------------------------||
   G||---------------------------|---------------------------*||
   D||--7--7--x-10---3--3--x-0---|--7--7--x-10---3--3--x-0---*||
   A||--7--7--x-10---3--3--x-0---|--7--7--x-10---3--3--x-0----||
   D||--7--7--x-10---3--3--x-0---|--7--7--x-10---3--3--x-0----||

Right? And if so, it is wrong in the GP5 file as well.

Right? And if so, it is wrong in the GP5 file as well.

For tab corrections please contact the instructor - as they are the ones who can fix it. When they have done so they will notify an admin (me or Maria, and we will republish the lesson so that it shows the correct tab)

Hey Kris,

I've noticed since this morning that theres a small bug in the search portion of the guitar lessons. When you look (for example, "in the style of Steve Vai") nothing shows up except a blank screen with "one moment please.." written on the top left. The problem is that the page is fully loaded and never brings up anything other than the "one moment please.." text. This problem persists even when you do an advanced search. If you're on a video lesson already and then do the quick search, it does work. However, it only shows a few lessons on the side bar.

Also, upon clicking on a instructor which takes you to their lessons only (it was working fine yesterday, June 1st), it now shows all instructor videos. This happens regardless of the instructor that you click on.

Hopefully these will get fixed soon smile.gif

hello out there - first time ever on a discussion board.

I'm having trouble viewing the videos. Been watching them for the past two weeks, then suddenly yesterday they stopped playing. I'm not even getting a video screen, just blank white space.

I'm using MAC OS 10.39 and firefox 2.x. And i have no other applications or processes up.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Is it just me or are many of the lessons suddenly missing their final video? Here are some examples:

http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/e-minor-melodic-solo/

I've checked it on IE7(Win), FF3.0.3(Win/OS X), & Safari (OS X).

I'm having trouble managing bookmarks in FF3.0.11 on Windows (I haven't been able to try other scenarios):

I'm able to delete entire folders, but not individual lesson links that live in sub-folders. You can click the "remove button" with no result. Links in the root directory can be removed as expected.

Moving bookmarks between folders appears to work correctly even after committing with the "finished editing" button. But once you navigate away from the current page/lesson, the changes are lost.

Likely a side-effect:

1) Move a bookmark from Folder A to Folder B
2) Delete Folder A
3) Commit
4) Navigate to a new page

The bookmark is inadvertently removed.

Hey !

I have a small suggestion, which could seem rather unnecessary for certain individuals, but I guess any change is for the greater good ! biggrin.gif

When making topics on the forum, consequent capital lettres are automatically reduced to "small" lettres... For example, when I wrote "Line 6 POD Studio GX", I got "Line 6 Pod Studio Gx"... If you guys could take the time to fix this automatic change in topic titles, I would be forever grateful !

Thanks, and I would like to congratulate all instructors and administrators who are working on this website to make learning guitar as easy and efficient as possible for everyone ! biggrin.gif

The "edit bookmarks" function doesn't work properly. When I "complete edit" everything is the way it should, but if I navigate further on the website and then check my bookmarks, it's just how it was before I edited. I'm on Opera.. it works fine on IE, haven't checked Firefox.. but I like Opera, so it would be great if you could fix this. So I don't have to log in on IE everytime I just want to edit my bookmarks smile.gif

Edit: I'm 100% sure it has worked in Opera before. I discovered that it didn't work awhile ago, just haven't reported it until now, don't know why..

There is a Bug and typo on the lesson series Page under the section of Classical Masterpieces:

http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/lesson-series.htm

Kosei Kubota's ''La Folia'' lesson package says vatitations instead of variations.
The bug happens becaus of that typo; if you click on this lesson package the link url also says vaTitations which is wrong ofcourse so you won't be redirected... if you replace the t with r you are redirected to the lessons!

The lesson symbol typo needs to be fixed and the right url must be linked correctly!

Having problems getting to see vids. If I choose a Recommend Video link they wont load - just the blank video page with vid section numbers at the top, but no video player. I am getting vids when I chose them from a different vector.

Maybe it's me. Or more likely my browser.

Hey ! In the Knowledge Base the banner does not fit properly, and the bookmarks for lessons does not fully function: the bookmarks go all the way down but are cut off by a large black area (the site's background).

Hope you can get this fixed.

Posted by: Hans Jan 3 2010, 11:32 PM

Hi,

I confirm ruben's finding regarding the slow video's. Actually, even the loading time became horrible while I suspect that this is not related to a slow server: The CPU load consumed e.g. by Firefox raises to almost 100% just during the download of the video (not playing the video!!). This is terrible. Hence, I think some unnecessary code has been added and is executed (animation of the status bar?).

To be honest: I don't like what happened to this site. Too many ongoing technical problems with key features while some of them were even cut (e.g. advanced search). I propose to re-focus on video download, play, and search functions instead of spending time on the site layout which ought ot be priority 2.

I seem to have found a problem with the Practice Agenda blogs.

When I try to add a new entry or edit one in either IE or FF, the textbox you type the entry into is infinitely expanding horizontally.

You can see the graphic where the box should be, but it isn't there.

It is way off to the left and super stretched out.

EDIT: Noticed this error at the top

Warning: ob_start() [ref.outcontrol]: output handler 'ob_gzhandler' conflicts with 'zlib output compression' in /data/www/guitarmasterclass.net/public_html/guitar_forum/modules/blog/lib/lib_blogfunctions.php on line 1344

In the "Community" tab in a video lesson page.

I'm on Firefox 3.6.2 and when I reply to a video, I can't put my reply at the end of the quote, only at the beginning.

It's only visible in the beginning for you, right after you hit "reply". You can verify this by reloading the lesson page and you will see that your reply is at the bottom.

QUOTE (purple hayes @ Mar 24 2010, 08:09 PM) *
Also, Cut, Copy and Delete are grayed out.

The video should explain that I'm talking about.

Hm weird, I can't recreate this in firefox 3.6.3

Every time I press "Rate lesson" I get "Rate Cooley's Reel".

For example: http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/love-song-solo/

I'm using FF 3.5.7

Thanks - fixed!

This doesn't happen to me (tested in ff). Some changes have been made in the practice agenda, please let us know if you still experience this problem.

It only happens in the regular Add Reply box. I can do Fast Reply just fine. It's the same on both my work and home computers running Firefox.

Works fine in Chrome.

It is set right in my options (gmt+1)

I think this has always been like that for me, its not a big problem but its sometimes confusing..

Does anyone else have that bug or is it something on my side?

Jonathan Burgos has two lessons called 80's Hard Rock #2. I couldn't find an 80's Hard Rock #1 lesson.

There seems to be a very intresting/weird thing going on in the forums lately,
where the last word on a line gets repeated on the next line.
Im sure its not mistakes of the writers, because its a rare mistake to make, but i see in many many peoples posts.

just a few examples here in a screenshot:

edit: in the 3rd example it does say personal, i just cut off the screenshot a bit too small

'Mark all posts read' button option doesn't seem to update properly.

I click it and get returned to the main forum screen but posts are still flagged as unread from when I logged out yesterday and doesn't seem to update to the most recent post in a board/sub-board.

Tried clearing my cache, clearing cookies and logging out and back in and still the same.

This is on FF 3.6.3

Sorry to butt in but I dont know.... GMC today is going haywire.I also have that bug and while we are on the forum we should normally see the newest post at each section. But that doesnt apply to the Community Activities and Tutorials and bands and guitarists sections as the most recent post was on Jul 17 2010! biggrin.gif Im pretty sure its June right now

Posted by: tonymiro Jun 17 2010, 04:26 PM

Same Chris - I can see some posts as July 16th and 17th 2010, which probably explains why they keep appearing as newest since they've yet to happen in time laugh.gif blink.gif . Maybe GMC has fallen in to the Bermuda Triangle or has got stuck on a blackhole's event horizon or Kris is really Dr Who and GMC is the Tardis smile.gif ?

Nice to know it's not just me that is experiencing this though smile.gif

BTW Kris - tried this in Explorer and the same happens.

Posted by: tonymiro Jun 17 2010, 05:17 PM

Kris - I've re-synchronised all the forums and sub-forums that were showing a July 2010 date.

That seems to have cured the glitch - at least at my end as I can now mark all threads read ok and the board is no longer showing any posts as July 2010.

So hopefully you can ignore this one smile.gif .

Posted by: Gitarrero Jun 17 2010, 07:10 PM

Hi guys,
every time I click on the "view new posts" button today I get the message "Sorry, the board administrator has enabled search flood control. Please wait at least 5 seconds before trying again."
This even happened when I forst logged in today and there really were some new threads...

Posted by: Azzaboi Jun 17 2010, 07:17 PM

Same - 'View New Posts' button is now alway returning the message:
"Sorry, the board administrator has enabled search flood control. Please wait at least 5 seconds before trying again."

The time doesn't matter...

Yeah same, I think the videos are still there but the GMC player has an issue and doesn't display. Just a white blank area for me.

Lick of the day still working, but that doesn't have the GMC player (with tab, lessons, etc options) around it?

Typos

Lick of the Day section: when it says "Tomorrows lick is only....."
This would need to be Tomorrow's lick, because it is possessive.

Lick of the day #1: (Scales and Theory)
Here are some tritone intervalls in the key of E, A and D.
intervals

Lick of the day #4: (intro section)
"Guitarists like Joe satriani, Kirk Hammett, Blues Saraceno...."
Capitalize Satriani

Lick of the day #6: (intro section)
"(=two notes played simultaneoulsy)"
simultaneously

Lick of the day #7: (intro section)
"Let's dive directly into a typical "coutryshism"."
I think this is supposed to say countryshism.

Lick of the day #13: (intro section)
"Using otaves..."
octaves
"...it almost sounds as if two guitars where harmonising each other (=playing together)."
were harmonizing with each other

So, I've check Licks 1-15. This is all I found. I gotta stop for now and go to bed. Midnight here.... biggrin.gif
Peace out.

I found a small mistake.

Garbriel Leopardi's lesson on John Frusciante doesn't meet the aesthetic standards that GMC has set. Maybe because it's a relatively old lesson, who knows. Anyway, I have a print-screen, and you can decide if it's worth taking the time to fix it. smile.gif

Ah Ha I'm watching secretly at work and only had the right earphone in. This particular lesson only has audio on the left channel. Problem solved

Getting an error when I try to post lesson feedback, and I can't send private messages. The message disappears when I try to send it and doesn't appear in my sent items box.

Hello - could you please let us know which browser (and version of it) are you using when you experience lesson feedback posting? We are looking into it.

Regarding private messages, they are being sent. If you want them to appear in your sent items, you need to check the "Add a copy of this message to my sent items folder " bellow the text input field - http://screencast.com/t/2kRfSmMYE

Thanks,
Bogdan

Hi, I just became a member...your site rocks! Thanks!

So..not really a problem per se, but in little ol' New Zealand we have these great things called "data caps". So I have to find a way to save the tutorials to disc, so I don't have to keep re-downloading them...

Any suggestions?

Thanks again smile.gif

Hi Phil,

Due to our http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/terms-of-use/ - we can only offer our content via online streaming (videos etc). Backings tracks and guitar pro tabs are available for download.

This happens to me sometimes on iPod on other sites I visit as well.
Try reloading the page or zooming in/out. I think it has something to do with iOS and internet connection on these devices.
