Cool, I'm looking for a Mic preamp myself at the moment!
I'll probably get a dbx 386 though!

Why did you use the alpha as a preamp and not as a usb recording device??

Yes I know. But this lexicon mic preamps sound pretty nice if the lexicon is used as a usb module however it sounds less great if used to go into another audio card.

I try to use it but the difference in been able to listen to more stuff when you run Guita Rig, like youtube, and videos at the same time diden`t work with Lexicon and the 2496 is much more stable and has less latency.

Try swapping the tube with some hi grade one, it will sure raise the quality up a notch. It's not so expensive to invest in one hi grade tube, and if you plan to use the preamp often, it will pay off.

Thanks Ivan great idea, but it is not hard to calibrate the new tube or is it just the poweramp tubes you have to do that.

Swapping the tube is great idea and could improve your preamp tone a lot.
It's a preamp so you don't need bias adjustment.
Don't forget to post some samples... smile.gif

Biasing is needed only for power tubes, and not for all power tube amplifiers. With preamp tube such as yours no need for any adjustments at all. Just search for a hi grade 12AX7 preamp tube, and replace it yourself, it's super easy.
