I've been reading Tony Iommi's autobiography and one of the things he talks about is an album he made in 1986 that was originally intended to be a solo album. He wanted to use different singers on it, including Rob Halford apparently.. but it didn't work out. He got Glenn Hughes to sing on it and it sounded awesome. However, the record company insisted that Tony use the Black Sabbath name even though he didn't want to. So, it was released as 'Black Sabbath featuring Tony Iommi'. Silly or what ?
Anyway, the album is called 'Seventh Star' and it's got some great stuff on it. I have an old copy on vinyl but I don't have a record player.. so Youtube has to make up for it
Tony's contribution to the world of the riff is beyond dispute but I also think he reached a new height with his lead playing in the 80's.
It got absolutely trashed by the Music Press at that time! Especially as it was the follow-up album to 'Born Again', which was also not very well recieved!

Yeah, I can't imagine how Tony found it in the 80's. They had a different line up every week it seemed ! Ah well, we all know what that feels like !
I adore Black sabbath albums with Tony Martin. My all time favorite Black sabbath albums after Heaven and Hell are Headless Cross and Tyr, u think that Martin expressed himself very well on those releases and showed the world how great singer he really is!
