As you guys know I tended my parents as they passed from this year a short time apart from each other. During that time, things were rough in many ways including financially. I sold my guitar collection and anything else that I could in order to help my family through this tough time. I miss my folks every day. However, for the longest time I didn't really miss my guitar collection. It just didn't seem to matter.

Recently, I've started to miss my guitars. I can't get my parents back. I can get back some of my guitars. I posted on facebook in the Ibby group and asked what guitars people regret selling. It created a HUGE response 177 people sharing their own sense of loss. Here is the link for those who didn't see it.

One of the guitars that was was a Ibanez RGT42MDX. It's a neck through body Ibanez with Mahogany wings and a maple fretboard. I wanted one for over 10 years before tracking one down. I haven't seen another one until today. I got a guitar center credit card and bought her for my own. I finally feel a little more.....whole. Some losses in life can't be made right. Some can. Those that can, should be.

It's not an MIJ, not a prestige. not "golden era". Just one that I connected with and miss dearly.

Anyone else lose an instrumnet/other bit of treasure that they want back? Of course, the last guitar from guitarcenter was destroyed by the time it got here. So, we shall see.

Here she was back in the day before I let her go. I sold it for $300 with a original ibby hard case. Just paid $500 at guitarcenter with a gig bag. have not seen a white with maple fretboard on ebay in nearly 4 years. These are getting really darn rare.

My friend had a giger model, not the super expensive one but still a higher-end version. We even placed Petrucci model dimarzio's in it but for a finansial reason he also had to let it go.

I spent a lot of time with those guitars and they're really good. Right now in the used market here I see them time to time and prices hasn't increased yet. But I never saw a version you shared, might be a USA only model I loved the looks.

Hi Todd, I'm sorry about everything that happened. Life can be very hard. It's nice to know that you are starting to feel better now, and I think that getting back some of your guitars can be very positive.

I also regret selling my Ibanez. It was my third guitar, the first one that was really good. It was a Ibanez rg520 (Japan), killer guitar. This is me (17 years old) playing that guitar with my band Damnation.

I miss this one, which was one of my first midrange ish guitars. It's not anything special as such, but it had very low action and is very different to other guitars I have owned throughout the years.

It's a Yamaha AES800 made in 1997 or so, if I remember correctly. Usually goes for around 350-500 USD. It has Q100 pickups, and I've read they are kinda similar to P90, but I've never tried P90 pickups. The pickups are the same as in their top range model at the time, the AES1500, which is about twice the price.

I think at one point I will buy it again. Maybe not the next guitar purchase, but certainly within the next 3 or 5 purchases, I reckon.

You and me both! smile.gif I just hope it makes it here ok. Last one was a bit banged up. Still, if it's wrecked I'll ship it back like the last one.

This particular model was only made for one year in 2009 as such they are quite rare. It's an "indo" guitar, not an MIJ, still it's a neck through which is somewhat also rare for an IBBY and has Mahogany for the body, yet again rare, and maple for the fretboard, yet also somewhat rare. This axe was very hard to find the first time I had one. I never thought I'd see another. smile.gif

That's awesome! Great performance and killer axe Those are very very hard to find these days. It's getting tougher to find these vintage Ibbys in good shape. when they do show up, the prices seem a bit nuts. I guess it's starting to be like the Fender Strat for GEN Xers smile.gif

I hear ya!!! It's sometimes just the connection with the guitar that's important.
