Hey
According to Kris latest post I decided to upload some music too. Today I wrote a solo (or something like that I think) over the kris's heavy metal riff and recorded it. I haven't jammed much over backing tracks in my life so I hope it sounds good. (btw I don't have a recording studio or something xD so quality is low) Rock on!! greetz Ezra This post has been edited by ezravdb: May 31 2007, 05:14 PM

Good job! As for the "constructive criticsm;" What i think you should defenitively work on is the variation of your licks, listening to that kind of gave me the feeling it was just, you know, one big goo of some cool heavy metal licks. And that's not bad, but it's not very entertaining either. Perhaps you don't want to entertain, but i'm pretty much sure that's, atleast, one of the many reasons you play. And for the cause of entertainment you need to varie it all the time, so people do not run out of interest. Another thing i noticed was your tiny pauses at some occasions, and that really breaks the fluid playing, and really breaks the nice pattern you've got there with your extremely cool fluidly running hammerons/pullofs. So, my advice. Just keep it going and do not stop like that, just mark the new ehm, "beat" with a strong note, instead of complete silence. And then try not to start the solo with one of those a little faster licks, because it doesn't really fit the backing track, you know. Maybe consider starting off the solo with a high bend or something and build up the tempo slowly, and it'll be much more comfortable listening too. Maybe you'll misunderstand me somehow, and after all, i'm not very good on explaining stuff like this, and well. It's just my opinion. Otherwise, great job! thank you very much i will work on this oh and yeah it was a bit to show my skills you know. Great to hear someone else having a go.
Its clear you have spent a lot of time practicing your techniques - your speed is pretty good and you were blazing a trail over the strings and setting a fair pace. Ok so musically, it needed some work to make it more interesting but if thats one of the first times you have put an improv over a BT then I think it was a great effort and you should be justifiably proud of it. Just wait till another 2 months have passed - by Christmas when you post another and listen to the 2 side by side, you will really appreciate how much better you are. I think thats one of the best things about recording yourself - it really shows you how far you have come. Because your technique is good, you will soon be able to "phrase" your licks better. Good Luck and well done. come on now GMC'ers- who's next?? -------------------- its not easy

Thank you so much guys for your replies (that rhymes xD)
I've read it all and I'm going to record& listen to myself more. And especially I'm going to think more about the phrasing and rhythm of the music (dynamics!) and if its fun for the listener. And thanks for the positive part of your replies greetz E. rock on!
