I heard the album but was not very impressed. Actually nothing new because he already performed with the orchestra - not on studio record, but again - he did it. He had done a lot better work in the past.

Nice review! smile.gif

Wow ... I wasn't going to rush to get this because it has a lot of old songs on it, but dude, you just changed my mind - I'm gonna order it right now, Vai is my number one guitarist of the moment, and I am still buying all his albums, think I'll just pick up the lot today smile.gif

Yeah i know hes performed with it, but he never recorded it for an album, so its something "Newer" in a sense, atleast for his recording. its very awesome to see some of the older stuff with an orcestar, "For The Love Of God" is simply amazing on this album, of course, it always was anyway smile.gif i still think Alive In An Ultra World is his best, simply because of Whispering A Prayer and Blood And Glory, this album though, comes very close.

As you can probably tell, i was quite impressed with this album, i love it when a band or guitarist uses an orchestra, atleast when they do it right, i love classical music and orcestras so this just added to how much i love Vai.

I had the same sensation than Pavel when I heard the album. It has the high quality that Steve uses to keep in every album but it's another live album. The same songs again. The Orquesta work is amazing and Vai's classical compositions are very original but I bought the last live dvd and now I would like to have another studio album!

I love orchestra myself and i use it for my own songs but i expected a totally new album full of new songs like "Real Illusion: Reflections". Than i put the cd in and i heard almost all old tracks and was totally disappointed.

Maybe i like it so much because when i bought it i new it had a whole bunch of Older songs, when i found out that For the love of god and answers were on there with an orchestral arrangement a few months ago, i had to buy it.

Im sure his next Studio album will be awesome though, the only thing is, it takes him awhile to finish one.

I can understand how you would be dissapointed if you were expecting a bunch of new songs though.

Great album nonetheless

I didn't listen to Vai's old stuff for pretty long time and now i put "The Elusive Light and Sound Vol 1"in and listened to my favorite song from that album - "Get The Hell Outta Here" - and i was AGAIN like: "OMG, what a MASTER!"

Im not joking actually!! smile.gif

"For The Love Of God", "Gentle Ways", "Kill The Guy With The Ball", "Shadows And...", "Frangelica Part I and II" And "Helios And Vesta" are just amazing, i really love the way they turned out, Im just fascinated with it, i only wish he did "Whispering A Prayer On Here", that would be godly.

I cant wait for an actualy new studio album though. I wonder if he can top Real Illusions.

i was pretty disappointed with this album there wasn't enough guitar and to much Orquesta.

Thast what i liked about this record, a great balance of Steves insane skill with the Orchestra playing some of his stuff.

I just lvoe the atmosphere this album produces, its beautiful.

Oh, man, that song is amazing! The thing that I love most about his music is the emotional songs, like For the Love of God and Windows to the Soul, but that song blows me away every time I listen to it!

P.S. Do you know why there are two versions on that CD, Drive the Hell Outta Here, and Get the Hell Outta Here?

Yeah, I was really hoping that I would be able to see him on this tour, but there's no way it's going to happen. We don't have the money or the time.

Count me in! ....and I am going to see him on 10/4. Can't wait. Ok, I have to look at the tickets again. Phew, ok I feel better, still there. Oh, and he doesn't ticket gouge either which is nice, $35USD. I was thinking about seeing EVH with Roth but they can stick it for $175!
