You should try TuXGuitar. It reads Guitar Pro and powertabs files. It works great here !

Hey,

As Linux User you might be interested in my software called Play it Slowly. It's not a replacement for TuxGuitar but rather an additional tool. It does pretty much what the name says, it loops over parts of audio files at a different speed / pitch. It's free as in beer and speech!
