Hi everyone. I want to try some of the Metal Metrics lessons.

They are in drop C. I've got a set of D'addario Heavy Gauge 12-54 (EXL145) layin around here that I can use.

Should work fine for drop C right? I know i might have issues fitting the heavier strings into the nut slots. I'll file it a bit if need be (on one of my non-gigging guitars.)

Thanks!

I'm working on Todd's shred lessons. Currently on Lesson 3.

July 1, 120 bpm was very messy for me, 110 was ok, and 130 was a garbled mess. 140 seemed unattainable. I practiced at around 100bpm while away on vacation, maybe about 20 minutes per day (not every day, but most) for about 2 weeks.

Yesterday, 120 bpm was easy. 130bpm sounded fine. I settled in at practicing at 130 for about 15 minutes.

Today... 130 seems easy and I can cleanly play at 140bpm.

When I get to 150, I'll be posting my video for my week 3 badge on Todd's forum.

I'm fully bought-in to the methodology of playing slow and clean and letting speed come.

I really enjoyed this. Not all the music played is my thing but it's a nice vid nonetheless.

Proof for those of you who said "pics or it didn't happen" in the GMC CHAT wink.gif Slavenko this is for YOU!

I went to long-mcquade (Guitar center equivalent in Canada) to find a cheapo, bolt-on neck guitar that I could leave at work and also take with me on business trips (take neck off, put in suitcase, reassemble at other end.)

I found an Epiphone Jr for $75. Perfect. Sounded ok.

As I was having the sales guy lower the action a bit, a guy walks in with a Music Man case and goes up to the front counter. I asked him "hey you trading that? What is it?". (I have been looking for a deal on a JP6 for a while now.) He says "it's a music man JP6". We open the case.. JP6, Mystic dream colour, matching headstock, with additional options: Piezo pickup and Shield Inlays. DROOL. It's MINT (it's an older model, probably around 2006, but in amazing condition.)

I ask him "how much is the store going to give you for that". He says $699 + tax. (These things regularly list on the toronto classifieds - craigslist or kijiji - for $1300 - $1600.) I tell him I'll match that with cash. He says "ok". I go across the road, grab $800 out of the bank... come back.. and buy the JP6. I'm STOKED! What a deal. We got in a bit of crap at the store for doing "personal business" lol but nothing major. They know me well there.

If I hate it in 6 months I can sell it for a profit.

Here's the proof. Tooks these pictures on my cell phone, here at my office at work.
