don't get less than 100, then you will always have enough

So whats your budget? What kind of music do you play? Do you already have a cab?

Mudbone has hit the nail on the head. It will really come down to your budget. It's kind of like asking, "Hey what's a fast car?" it's a pretty huge question when it's left that open. If money is no object, then your going to be able to pick anything, but if money is a consideration, it will limit your choices. You did mention a 100 Watt Marshall and that's a good way to go. Pretty much any 100 watt marshall will be "loud". Combo, Stack, half stack, whatever. 100 Watts of Marshall Amplification would certainly qualify under the "Loud" category. So If the Marshall is within your budget, it's a fine choice.

Practice!

As Mudbone asked, what's the budget and what are your preferences with amps?

Crate Blue Voodoo is one of the loudest amps. The loudness is just silly smile.gif
A friend tried it before it got discounted, and it was taking out his ears halfway to 1. tongue.gif

It does sound good as well, if it has the sound youre after smile.gif Its also really cheap used.

If you have a limited choice, Marshall 100W head, even solid state, will sound decent. Just don't forget that head+cab weight a whole lot more than that 30W combo. I would recommend 212 cab with that.

Tubeamp 50 watts will be enough.
In my experience 50 watts is just right. 100 is too much while 30 and below is too weak.

In theory there's not much difference between 30 and 50 watts but while cranking the 30 watter you still have plenty left on a 50 watter. Usually 30 watters and below use EL84 while more powerful amps use other tubes and to me it seems that, spite the small difference measured in watts, EL34 tubes come out a lot harder.

Yes, I agree with Micke. For clubs and medium venues, 50W tube amp should cover it. I would consider solid state 100W because it's cheaper and easier to carry.

I second that, I've got a head and a 4x12 cab and it's always too much work. I'd rather have a 2x12 combo
