GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Soldano Preamps? Tried? Owned?

Egad, I wish I'd never come across the SOLDANO SP77 and X88R preamps. These two soldano preamps sound freaking amazing!! The three channel x88r is rare and pricey and not made anymore kind of like the Mesa IIC+, it's almost a myth. They go for 3 to 5 THOUSAND dollars. For a freakin preamp. But wow do they sound nice.

Here is a vid of the "cheap" one. The 77. Two channel, bit less gain, can be had under one thousand. killing me!!

I've only ever really played on the SLO which I really dig for a hard rock lead tone. Has a really open feeling without sounding thin

The SLO 100 is a legend. Anyone tried the AMT pedal that simulates the SLO sound?
