Gabe, how did the last show go? That was quite a series of gigs, I'd be interested in hearing how you prepared for them. Did you rehearse for all the shows together, or one at a time? Did you use your AX8 differently for the different shows? How did the shows compare to each other?

Hi mate! Nice to find these cool questions here!

Yes, we did a series of 4 shows. Each show was based on a different album, so the whole playlist was different. We played the whole albums, some covers from each period of the band and some b sides. We've played around 60 different songs during this month. We had a lot of fun, but we worked a lot!!

I can say that around 20 of those songs were already reahearsed for this year's gigs around the country, but the other 40 had to be adjusted. We worked on one show at a time. We played every September Sunday so we had 1 week for each show. We had 2 long rehearsals for each show, besides the work/practice that each one of us did at home.

In order to make the shows more interesting and be able to reproduce everything that happens on albums, we added a 5th musician who alternate between synths, acoustic and electric guitar for many of the songs.

For the shows I've used my Fractal Ax8. I've created a preset for each song (as I always do), with all the effects required, and the tempo (bpm) for delays. We play with innear and metronome so everything is always in sync. There is no guitar or bass sound on stage, everything keeps clean. I've tried to be loyal to each album era so I've used the same kind of effects and amps that I've used to record the albums. I've combined Mesa Boogie, with Marshall jcm800, and Fender combos.

My Ax8 presets have this scenes configuration:

Attached Image

As you can see in the presets footswitches section, I've customized it. I have 4 scenes in the first 4 switches, which have always the same configuration. Number 1 is rhythm guitar, without any effect, number 2 always has delay, number 3 always added modulation, and number 4 is for lead (delay, drive, and any other thing in some songs). The other ones are mostly for the cases in which I want to change something from the scenes, and number 8 is to move to the following song.

Regarding the modules used, you can see that one called "enhance" which emphasizes the stereo effect so it seems that you are using two amps. The fx loop is there for the cases in which I need to send my guitar to a cab for monitoring. It rarely happens but it's there just in case.

Here you can see some cool moments from the first 3 shows. The 4th show happened last night so we don't have the video yet.

Let me know if you have any other question! smile.gif

Thanks, it looks like the shows went great? You always have very professional photos from your shows. In the Rompiento video, it looks like Luciana is playing some kind of a wind instrument that your brother is holding for her, what is that?

Yes! The shows were great! We had a great month, very enjoyable!

That's a wind instrument similar to a flute but the notes are played with a keyboard. Here we call is "melodic flute".

This is the song that we've played, but from another show. I'm playing Ukelele on this one:

The song is a cover from a local band called Fun People.

I see, that's often called a melodica. I've never seen one with a tube like that before. Thanks.

Yeah! We also call it melodica. I thought that it was the spanish name. That tube can be used or not, it's the same.
