Being a married man, and not able to talk my wife into a heavy musical expenditure just yet, (until she sees Im gonna stick with it this time) would you all even consider this guitar?

I don't know but after seeing the price for it on clearance I may just buy it myself and modify it a bit.

I wouldn't. If you can just sweet talk her a bit more I think you'd get a way better guitar with f.ex the RG320 or RG350 which isn't that much more expensive.
The Uncreator made a review on the RG350

But then you'd need an amp aswell, if you havn't got one already. The GRX comes in the "kick-start"-kit together with a small amp. You'd want to exchange both the amp and the guitar after say 1 year for something better.
And I mean, the RG350 you could be comfortable with for years.

Just my reasoning, of course, if the GRX is the only way out, go for it.
