So. I think im going to go with this one, what are your views on it, isit worth £229. Is it compatible with a line 6 flextone iii

Sure it works with a Line 6 Flextone and it is worth it's money if you want a multi FX Pedal suitable for a live situation!

I would sell the Flextone and get a tube amp and spend the money for the Boss on analogue pedals but that's just me (I can't stand modeling and digital effects)

Yes, you'll have a lot of fun with that combination. Vox is Vox, needs no justification. The ME-70 is a great value for the money because it does so many things easily. We have a review of the ME-70 in our Wiki.

I'd get a tube amp instead of a modelling/fx amp, you'll have plenty of effects on the ME-70. I'm sure it will work just fine with the VT100 anyway, just a matter of preference.

That boss can certainly do alot of things..
I am however with the other guys.. I don't really use that many effects, and the ones I use will I rather have in pedal form..

can you suggest amps good enough for around £300. which is about $450 dollars

Your original idea was a Vox VT100. Do you need 100 watts?

It's hard to find 100 Watts tube amps for £300.

You could get some decent amps for apartment use though, such as the BlackStar HT-5, Vox Ac4TV, or maybe Blackheart Little Giant or Handsome Devil. All of them have Combo and Head + Cab versions.

If you need something bigger to play with a drummer/gig those above will not have enough power though.



Edit: That Vox VT100 is a really good option too. No need for a tube amp to sound good, although that would be my choice, others prefer solid state/hybrid amps, and they sound great.

No mate, I had a VT with a pod xt for a while and it sounded proper rubbish. The VT is a decent amp and sounds good on its own (It has built in effects that are ok...just)

You need a tube amp mate, thats all i can say to you, a fender HRD, or even a blues jnr takes pedals really well,(Dont be fooled by the blues jnr's 15w, its pretty loud mate!) a marshall MA50 will do too, if you are playing live then a fifty watter will see you through for years. Fender frontman is ok and a lot of bang for the buck, but it will show its weakness with a loud live situation with pedals.

Have a look on ebay mate, theres loads of bargains on there, especially used Marshall stuff.

That Boss is good, but I think you don't need that much modeling. I advise you to consider getting MultiFX unit (with only time & modulation effects in it), a separate boost pedal, and a decent tube amp. This is far better and more practical solution.

You can switch off the amp modelling section on the ME-70, that's a feature I really appreciate, that way it works as an effect pedalboard without any extra modelling which is not needed when playing through a decent amp.

It's also convinient to have the modelling option there though, I use that when I travl and play though 2.1 speakes, Hi-Fi or headphones depending on the situation.

It's almost like the POD x3 right? It has those features as well. I really find it handy when you are moving in different situations then again that depends on every case.

I'd say that POD X3 focus more on amp modelling while ME-70 strong point is in the effects.

Or, looking at it from a different point of view, X3 is made for recording while ME-70 is made just to play
