I like a sweepy bit here and there but this is just too much and too not cool:D

... he crossed the line of being musical or just being fast...biggrin.gif For me at least.

I thought it was awesome he's just showing his sweeping skills, or is this an actual song?

Part from a song .... tongue.gif as excersise it's okay, but for me, it holds no musical value!

I think it's cool, he is just showing off his skill with some sweeping and sweep tap shapes which are perfectly executed!

Too much delay is what I think about all those neoclassical guys...

I just don't get the whole sweeping...shred...play as fast as you can, no matter how melodic it may or may not sound thing. Stevie Ray, Jimi etc. could play fast...and it sounded awesome. These "shred" guys play fast and it just sounds...fast.

MAN!! that guy is a gifted sweeper, clean and fast you don,t get better than that!! personally i think he sweeps cleaner than yngwie himself, what i wouldn,t give to get that good, but in reality the possiblity of that happening are pretty much zero, however the fun is in trying!!!!!!

Possibility is never zero, any technical stuff, pure technicall, is achievable with enough practise... this doesnt go for improvisation skills, I think those just go to a certain level... and then you're done:D

not that it's lots of picking, just same patterns over and over. His picking is perfect, I like it.

it just came to my mind, what would look like someone would did too much legato, can you actually have too much legato?

As just showing off I think it's cool, but if it's part of one of his songs, then yeh, that is just too fast too be musical.

Do you mean like a guy that sits down like this guy but instead all he does is legato?
I'm sure you could find that somewhere on youtube. smile.gif

Hmm I liked this solo spot. Its a cool show off piece and he is thankfully not sweeping all the time rather putting some melodic parts in the middle so it kinda works smile.gif

non-senseless shredding is not music to me either...Although, like most of the 10 minute track shredders, we have to admit he knows what he is doing...

I'd love to have that kind of technical skill! I'd try to go for even more of a melody then he did, though ^^

This is just shredding, not music. I can watch these guys and be impressed by the technique, but unfortunately I haven't heard a good SONG yet where this type of playing fits. But I will love to see these players with other good musicians that also have a spot in the music. Steve Vai for instance, sounds best on other peoples records, not his own. (in my opinion) Anyway, I rather watch Rowan Atkinson than these guys making noise. Simply, more enjoying!
