GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Ordered Myself A Christmas Present!

Posted by: Sigfridsson Nov 4 2008, 12:31 PM

As the topic suggests, when I ordered my amp earlier I actually went right ahead and ordered another thing too.
It's a guitar I've had my eyes on for quite a couple of years, it plays great and just looks stunning.

I just couldn't resist it no more, so went ahead and ordered a ESP Eclipse I CTM VBK.
Only downside is that I will have to wait roughly a month to get it since their local supplier were out of stock, so they are waiting to get it in straight from ESP.

Can't wait to get it home.

Congratulations. I hope to see some videos from you with that guitar. I haven´t seen it yet and have no experience with ESPs... smile.gif

I've always played Ibanez actually and been quite happy with that, but this one right here at first just caught my eye because I found it so beautiful. I tried one out a lot of times some year ago at a local music store while I still lived in Sweden and it just played great, I found it a lot easier to play than say a Gibson LP.

Well I've been using EMG's for a good long time now, been switching pickups on all my Ibanez guitars at least.

Sweet guitar. You just have to love a nice Les Paul design. I've never ordered a guitar because I always feel the need to play the one I about to get as even guitars made the same day and same model can had slight differences. Did you get a chance to play one before ordering? Just curious because I'd love to know how the ESP you ordered compares to a Gibson Les Paul. Neck playability sound etc.

Anyhow, great looking guitar and I'm sure it will be awesome.

Yeah I've actually played it several times before, had a friend of mine who had one and we had one in at a local music shop where I used to live.. I used to sneak in there and try it as often as they would allow me to!

Personally I prefer the neck of the Eclipse over the LP any day, it's a lot easier to play.

No worries however I will give a better and more detailed review as soon as I got it at home!

2 weeks ago I got my guitar, I ended up ordering the Full Thickness rather than the slimmer normal eclipse model.
It plays like a dream, been having loads of fun with it so far!

Wow, what a beauty, and a Full Thickness-model too. I've always wanted to try one of those out. It must weigh quite a bit. But the tone must be amazing aswell! smile.gif

It weights a LOT, at least twice as much as my old RG 470! It's really fun that I had a EMG 81 in the bridge on my old Ibanez so that you could really compare the sound of em and even with my amp you can hear a HUGE difference.

I'm gonna look into some nice way of recording some stuff and I'll let you listen to how it sounds.

What's the body and neck woods? Great looking guitar. I'm a Giby player so a pretty Les Paul turns me on.

It's a Mahogany body with a Maple top, and the neck is Mahogany.
You can check the specs on this site http://www.espguitars.co.jp/oversea/standard_gt/ecli_1_ctm_ft.html
