I am going to buy one of the legendary Peavey Rockmaster preamps from my buddies older brother soon and I would like to know how I can use this ting for playing at home - like how to link it up to my computer etc...

I have a pod studio GX as an interface, can i plug the Preamp straight into the pod and play through headphones and recod or do I need to run a speaker simulation first (I am a noob in homerecording)

Pretty sure you can do just as you said, guitar to preamp to interface to computer. The GX has its own speaker emulations so those will work, but if you have others they might be better. This is pretty much the setup I use to record to my computer, mesa preamp line out to GX to my computer, but using Kefir speaker simulations which I like more. Sounds really nice.

So I just go from the Preamp to the GX into the computer and run a speaker simulation program of my choice?

And yes I am lucky that I got the Rockmaster, especially one that is in like new condition that has new tubes and was checked up by a tech just recently!

I used one of those pre-amps in my last rack and loved it. They are just great. The Tone is killer and the gain is monstrous. For recording, your pod should have speaker emulation built in so you should be good there. I wouldn't try to stack gain on gain though as in distortion from the RockMaster and from the pod as the signal will probably break or be too compressed. But you could run out of the Rock Master in to your pod and record as usual. Maybe try a patch on the pod that isn't gain heavy but mostly reverb, speaker emulation etc.

Yes I'm pretty sure its the way to go! You should be able to get a great sound. Just see which program to use for speaker simulation as results will vary.

Congrats on getting your hands on such preamp! smile.gif
